Journey to Duelist Kingdom

Y/N's P.O.V.

It was Sunday, the day after Pegasus too grandpa's soul. We all had to go home as we had school the following day, as I got to my apartment there was a white package identical to the one that Yugi received outside my door, I picked it up before entering my home. There were two letters on the floor, one of them was from Seto! I picked them both up and went to my sofa. I opened Seto's letter first.

I'm leaving Domino City for a while since I lost my duel with Yugi I just don't know what I think anymore. Everything's different, it feels as if I lost a piece of myself that day. I don't know how long I'll be gone, I don't know who I am anymore. I've given you the Dark Magician Girl, I found out that it was your favourite card and it's something to remember me by. I need to figure everything out, get answers. Take care Y/N.

Seto Kaiba

"I hope you find answers Seto," I said with a sad smile on my face, I opened the parcel next. And just like Yugi's there was a glove and two-star chips but no video, I opened the second letter, it was an invitation to Pegasus' tournament as well as duel monster cards but they were pictures, not monsters, there was also an explanation for what the cards meant in the letter. Yugi must have got something like this too but why was I invited to the tournament? I guess I'll find out when I get there, I just hope Seto and Mokuba are ok.

"A tournament at the Duelist Kingdom? Isn't that an island?" Téa asked as I joined Yugi's table at the back. "So you got those cards too huh Yugi?" I questioned before getting my own out. "You were invited to the tournament too but why Y/N?" Yugi asked "beats me I'm not even sure how Pegasus found out that I duel. I've never taken part in any tournaments and I've only duelled people whilst I was at school" I told everyone "hmm that's strange" Tristan mumbled. "The boat's going to be leaving in two days" Yugi announced as he looked at another card "but you can't go. It could be dangerous" Téa said worryingly "I have to go. It's the only clue I have for rescuing Grandpa" Yugi replied "yeah but Yuge without invitations, we can't even go there with you. I wish we could help you, pal" Joey cried. "Hey, Yugi. Check this out. According to this card, the tournament winner takes the grand prize of three million dollars." Tristan said as he picked up a card which had a picture of treasure on it "hey, gimme that" Joey said before snatching the card from Tristan "you want the money so you can pay for your sister's eye surgery right?" I asked remembering that Joey told me about his sister's eyes a few days ago. "Yeah, but without an invitation, there's no way I'll get the money" Joey whined.

I and Yugi were at the harbour getting ready to board the ship to the Duelist Kingdom "I'm nervous Y/N. What if I can't win I probably won't even get into the semi-finals I'll never be able to get grandpa's soul back!" Yugi panicked "Yugi relax! You'll be fine alright? Besides you beat Seto, he's a stronger duelist than a wide majority of the others here you'll do fine!" I reassured him. "Attention all duelists. Welcome to this event sponsored by Industrial Illusions. You received with your invitation, the star chips that will grant you entry into the contest. You are all elite, invited by us after close observation of your past Duel Monsters contests. You each have a fair and equal chance to win. It all comes down to how well you've chosen your cards and how well you play. Now then duelists, cross the ocean and enter the Duelist Kingdom." One of the security guys announced. "Hey you, get out of here. Only official contestants are allowed onboard" one of the guards shouted me and Yugi looked over to where it was coming from and saw two guards dragging Joey! "Leave him alone" Yugi demanded after we ran over there "Joey! What're you doing here, Joey?" I asked "ha. Did you really think I'd let you two do this on your own? C'mon, help me out." Joey begged "he's with us. You've got to let him on." Yugi requested urgently "only people with a star chip can get on board. There are no exceptions. Understand?" The guard growled "but Joey has a star chip. Didn't he tell you?" Yugi asked before handing Joey one of his star chips "according to this card, a star chip's proof that one is a duelist so know you have to let him on" I chuckled. After a bit of persuading the guards finally let Joey board with us.

"I'm glad they let you on board, Joey" Yugi chirped "only because you sacrificed one of your star chips for me but if any of the other players find out we only have one-star chip each, they could really try to take advantage of us" Joey warned "then be quiet about it dummy" I laughed. "Well, what do we have here?" Someone asked from behind, we all turned around and saw Mai Valentine she was Seto's opponent in the championships she got smashed it was kinda embarrassing she wasn't able to attack Seto once! "So, you're the Yugi kid everybody's talking about, huh? But I'm amazed that a squirt like you could beat Kaiba. You're famous, you know." Mai informed us "uh, thanks very much. I think..." Yugi laughed nervously "look, you're either a champ or a chump. Cut these two loose. They're fashion-challenged and deserve to be crushed in the games" Mai said before walking off "I'm going to kill her" I growled "easy Y/N we don't wanna start anything just yet" the two boys laughed nervously whilst holding me back, stopping me from going after Mai.

Yugi and I were sitting at a table, watching the waves. Joey joined us "I got some good card trading in" he laughed "Salamandra and a Kunai with Chain. Baby Dragon and Shield and Sword! Great! With these new magic cards combined with your monsters, you'll have a really strong deck." Yugi complimented "alright. So now I'm ready to win every duel I play" Joey chuckled "I think you're going to find it's a bit harder than that, Joey. Here. Add this to your deck, it can be helpful in a tight spot" Yugi said before handing him his Time Wizard card. "Thanks, Yuge! I'll take it, I can't get over how you're always helping me out" Joey said happily, "we meet again" Weevil chuckled as he approached us. "You used the Exodia cards in your duel with Kaiba, right? Those are the strongest cards of them all. Could I possibly see those legendary cards?" Weevil questioned "I don't see why not. Just be careful with them" Yugi said before handing the five cards over to Weevil who then ran to the side of the boat and chucked them into the ocean! "No!" Yugi yelled, "I'll get 'em!" Joey and I shouted, we jumped in the water and grabbed as many cards as we could "how many you got Joey?" I coughed "three how about you?" He questioned, "I've got the other two!" I exclaimed, "are you two okay?" Tristan's voice shouted before he unrolled a ladder, me and Joey climbed it and got to the same deck as we were before.

"That was close. I'm sure glad you two guys showed up. Really glad" Yugi said to Téa and Tristan, "we're a team. We'll all stick together" Téa responded "oh Yugi we got all your Exodia cards back!" I said happily as I handed over two and Joey handed over three. "Thanks, guys but they weren't worth drowning over. We'll both do our best in this tournament. Joey, for your sister and me, for my grandpa" Yugi pronounced "look, the island!" Tristan said, the island was just in view and the sun rising behind it. "That's the Duelist Kingdom. That's it. We're almost there." Yugi said, almost towards the Duelist Kingdom one step closer to getting grandpa's soul back.
