Josh

A stinging sensation. That's all I felt.

I opened my eyes slowly and was about to run my eyes, but soon realized that they were chained. I cleared my vision and saw a man standing in front of me. He had an ugly smile on his face and chuckled. "Finally up, pretty boy?" he sneered.

I groaned and tried to ignore the painful headache in my head. Wait, where is Emily?

The man must've seen my expression because he said, "Your girlfriend is safe. She's going to be in for a big surprise," he cackled.

I pulled against the chains, but I was somehow weak all of a sudden. My head was spinning and I just wanted to let the darkness consume me. I grunted when the room started to spin. "You - you people drugged me," I growled out.

The man laughed. "You're lucky you aren't dead. Baby girl over there seems weaker due to the amount of the drugs we put in her."

I looked across the room and saw Emily tied up against a chair and unconscious. She was pale, but I couldn't let myself believe that she was on the verge of dying.

I groaned when I felt the chains pulling me back. "Did you touch her? You will pay if you touched her in any way!" I roared.

He smirked and took out a box. Placing a cigarette in his mouth and lighting it, he watched me in amusement.

"Don't worry, pretty boy. I wouldn't touch her like that, although now that you think about it...maybe it might be time to have a little fun," he teased with a smirk.

"You won't touch her. I'll make sure of that."

He snickered. "Right, but you're lucky. I didn't touch her. The girls took care of her and drugged her. Strict order from Richard anyway."

Richard.

That name lights my blood on fire. He wants Emily, he'll have to pass me first.

Just as I was about to say something, his words caught my attention.

"Girls? What girls?" I asked with a bad feeling forming in my gut.

He grinned with a hint of playfulness and amusement in his eyes. "I'd thought you'd never ask."

Emily

"You can't believe it huh?"

My eyes opened slowly and I grunted quietly when pain circled in my head.

I shifted around, trying to loosen up the ropes that tied me up. But that was a bad idea because a sharp and stinging pain flooded the right side of my lower abdomen.

I cursed silently and tried to keep in my cries.

"Looks like pretty girl is up," a voice sneered. I looked up and saw a man standing with a cigarette, watching me.

Next to him was Josh. My eyes widened and he gave me a look of relief, knowing that I was okay. I sent him nod but winced at the headache.  Worry spread across his face, but I sent him a look showing that I was fine.

The man with a cigarette came up and knelt down in front of me. He brushed my hair with the back of his fingers and I jerked away.

He chuckled. "Feisty."

He then placed a hand on my thigh and anger started to boil up inside me. "You keep your hands off her!" Josh shouted.

His applied more pressure which made me so frustrated, I kicked him. The man stumbled back in surprise and I used that time to try to free myself out.

Remembering that I had a bullet in my pocket, I squeezed my hand in my pocket to grab it.

Luckily, I was able to get it and I used it to cut through the rope. Using the pointy end, I rubbed it back and forth on the rope and after a good minute, the rope loosened.

The man lunged at me and I quickly reacted. I kicked him again, but this time in a much more painful area.

He groaned and shrunk to the ground in pain. I got out of the chair and cut Josh's rope with a knife I found on a table.

Josh sprinted up and hugged me. "Are you okay? Did he touch you anywhere? I swear, I am going to kill him if he did."

I hugged him back. "No, I'm fine. But we'd better get rid of him before anyone comes in."

I broke the hug and walked over to the man. He was still groaning and his eyes were shut. I immediately pressed a nerve and he fell asleep.

I got up and found Josh staring at me in shock. "Remind me never to make you angry again," he said.

I grinned. He hugged me tightly once again and buried his head in my neck. "I'm so glad you are okay." I buried myself in his warm arms. I felt safe and protected. I wanted this all the time.

He loosened up the hug and looked down at me. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you. You mean so much to me."

His words immediately shocked me. Was he saying what I think he's saying?

"Josh..."

He took a deep breath. "Yes, Emily. I-"

"Sorry to ruin your precious moment, but it's my turn to enjoy it." We looked at the man at the door.

Richard.

He smirked wickedly and raised his arm. And just like that, my world shattered.
