"Some interviewed criminals said that Jamison had threatened them to do his bidding. One man said that Jamison forced him to kidnap a girl, but he had failed," Brandon read from the computer screen.
I read every word carefully. I needed to understand what Jamison's plan was and his weaknesses.
Brandon scrolled down the page. "Another man, who had been shot by Jamison, couldn't speak anymore, but he mumbled things like, Jamison's daughter and wife. Does Jamison have something he's hiding that he doesn't what us to know?" he read.
I placed my chin on my fist. "Something is missing. Go look up the crimes he has pulled."
Typing in Richard's name and crimes, hundreds of websites appeared and we clicked on each one after another.
After almost 15 minutes of searching, we finally gave up. I groaned angrily. "Why isn't there any information?"
Brandon sighed. "I gotta go to work in an hour. When work ends, I'll come back here and try to find out some more. Tell Gigi I said bye."
He walked out of the door and when I shut, I slumped on the couch. I leaned my head back.
"This is hopeless," I mumbled. A minute didn't even pass, and darkness was already consuming me.
Emily
I rubbed my eyes and stretched. My hand somehow caught onto something pointy.
With my eyes still closed, I grabbed it and squeezed it.
"Ow!"
My eyes shot open and I saw Gigi sleeping next to me, holding her nose and glaring. "What the hell was that for?!"
I sat up. "Sorry, I stretched and I guess I caught your nose." She groaned and ran her hand through her hair.
My eyebrows suddenly furrowed when Josh came into my mind. I quickly got out of bed, not caring that Gigi went back to sleep.
Entering the living room, I saw a laptop on the coffee table. Turning the corner, I spotted a sleeping Josh on the couch. I chuckled to myself and walked over. I sat down next to him and examined his facial features.
I was about to reach out and caress his cheek, but stopped when he had on a pained expression. He looked worried and in pain. Strands of hair fell down on his forehead and I brushed them away.
Using the back of my fingers, I stroke his cheek and watched his pained expression change to relaxed. I sighed and smiled to myself. He looked so handsome and calm. I scooted closer and rested my head on his shoulder.
Without even a peek, I fell asleep once again.
Josh
I could see the brightness through my closed eyelids. The sun was starting rise.
As I opened my eyes, I felt a something on my shoulder. Looking to my left, Emily was sleeping next to me. Her left hand was on my chest and her head leaning on me.
I smiled at the sight and looked at her through her eyelashes. I grabbed her hand and held it in my larger ones.
"You'll be okay," I whispered. I brought her hand up to my lips and kissed it lightly.
She stirred in her sleep and I swear I heard her whimper. Frowning, I changed her position and placed her head on my lap, allowing her to lay down properly.
She let out a small sigh and I brushed through her hair with my fingers. She stirred again, but this time she woke up.
"I didn't mean to wake you up," I said. Her eyes widened. "No. It's my fault. I came here first. Sorry if I fell asleep on you. It must've been uncomfortable."
I chuckled softly. "It's all good." She nodded, but winced afterwards. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"
She placed her hand on her head. "I think I'm getting a headache. I should go get some Tylenol."
Emily started to stand up, but let out a cry of pain as she fell backwards. I quickly caught her and she winced once again.
I set her down slowly. "Stay here. I'll go get the pills for you." Emily didn't object and that was perfectly fine with me.
Grabbing my keys and putting on my shoes, I quickly glanced at Emily before shutting the door.
I headed to Walmart and immediately headed to where the medicine was.
I grabbed a bottle of Tylenol and was about to leave, but someone had called my name.
I turned around, but suddenly wished I hadn't. She was standing there with her hands behind her back.
"Hello, Joshy. What are you buying here?" she asked in her fake voice. She was wearing super short shorts and a white tank that was so thin, it would not even be considered a shirt.
"Cassandra," I spat.
Amusement spread across her face and she smirked. "Is that how you treat your future spouse?"
My fingers wrapped around the bottle of Tylenol tightly. "I have no interest in you."
Her smirk disappeared, and she walked up to me. "I only want you, Josh. I can stay with you forever!"
I chuckled at her pathetic reason. "Get out of my sight." I turned around, but her hand grabbed my arm.
My back was facing her, but I heard her and felt her walk up so close to me that I could feel her body heat.
"You can't leave me, Josh," she whispered in my ear. "You wanna know why?"
I closed my eyes. My grip on the bottle tightened even more. She traced my jaw with her acrylic nail.
"Because I'm pregnant."
