After the incident with Johnny four months have passed by. They passed by quick when you are busy. Dally got locked up again. This time it was for fighting. He promised he'd be more careful and will try not to get locked up as much as he used to. He's not lying he's doing better. This time he wasn't even in the fight. He was witnessing it, the officers thought he was in on it since he's got a huge record. I didn't cry because I became strong. Dally told me that being soft and crying over something so little is going to make you look weak in this world.

"You can't look weak anymore. This world is tough so you need to be tough. You need to be hard as a rock. You gotta be smart. Nothing can hurt you." Dally told me one time.

Of course I will wait for him and I did visit him. I never missed a visitation day. I wasn't going to be like Sylvia. Sylvia never visited him and she ran out on him while he was locked up. I would never be like that. Curly was arrested again and now out, I paid for his bail money. Stupid things that get you arrested for. An officer caught him jaywalking down the street. There was a cross sign. I saw nothing wrong with it but nowadays police officers are arresting you for just breathing. I got question the other day because I'm with Dally or because I'm a Shepard. I rarely go over to the Curtis house anymore. The only people that ever talk to me when I was there was two-bit, Kathy and Johnny. Darry would say a word here and there and Pony was always quiet. Soda was always with Sandy and Steve was two seconds away from Soda.

But that didn't bother me any. I honestly am now to myself. I rarely talk to anybody and I don't go out with Kathy anymore. I always stay at home with the Shepard gang or hanging out with Dally and Johnny. But that doesn't mean I'll never stick up for them. I'll always stick up for the gang. It didn't matter whether I was with Soda or not. Doesn't matter if I am with Dally or not. They accepted me when no one else did. When I had no one else to talk to but my brothers and sister they were there for me. I never had any friends because Tim and Curly scared them off. I guess the reason why they're not talking to me anymore is because we're stressing out. Money situation is getting worse and worse each month. School is getting tougher by the days go by according to Angela.

But other than that everything was great. For the first time in a few weeks Kathy invited me over to the Curtis house. At first I declined because why would she invite me over there. We normally hang out at my house, her house or the theater. She calls again then begged me to come over. I knew she wasn't going to ever stop. She would non-stop call the house phone. Tim was getting irritated picking it up and handing me the phone. So I accepted. I never wanted to go to the Curtis house alone without Dally but I should be fine since I am with Kathy. I can hold up my own now. Always carry a blade on me in my jean pocket. I don't carry a bag around anymore. That's the fastest way to get jumped. Fastest way to get killed. So I carry a blade in my back pocket all the time.

Kathy and I were walking to the Curtis house as we saw a group of socs we're holding Ponyboy down on the ground. They take a knife to his throat and slash it as they laughed and he screams out in pain. He tries to get up and run but they bring him back down to the ground.

"Kathy run. Get the gang." I push her to the house as she takes off. I knew she was away from the socs when I could hear her screaming for the gang.

"Hey!" I yell at the socs to get their attention. Some of them look.

"Y'all leave him alone." I run up and pull them off of Pony.

They push me to the ground and try to hold me down. They get their blade ready as I kick it out of their hands and kick them in the face. Once I got free, two-bit, Soda and Steve run up and chase them to their car. Darry came running out of the house as Kathy and Johnny stayed on the front porch. I run and chase them to their car. Our gang was beating the socs. I kneed one of them in the stomach and take his head and smash into the window. He scurries along and gets in the car as I kick him through the window. He grabs my foot.

"You little shit." I mumble as I kick him again.

He finally lets go of me as I grab a handful of rocks. I started throwing rocks at the car and windows. I busted the windows and shattered their back windshield. The next thing I see is Dally throwing a stick at their car as they take off. I run up to him and kiss him. He wasn't supposed to be out of jail for 90 days. If they'd allow me to bail him out I would have. But according to his record and cases no bail for any of his arrest whether they were major or minor. It was different with Curly.
