As soon as we're stable enough to walk we told the docs what happened. They told us to leave. Ponyboy was still cry so I took him out of the hospital. We tried looking for Buck's car but Dally must have taken it. Me and pony walk down the street to the Curtis house. I couldn't leave Pony alone, I wasn't going to be that irresponsible. A bunch of cars came up and honked their horns. Soon a car pulled up to us as I help the switch blade close by.

"You guys need a ride?" It was an older man. I look in the back seats to see if he had anyone back there. His car seemed to be empty.

"Sure, yeah. I guess so." Pony hops into the car without me. I climb in the back seat and keep an eye on the guy.

"Are you alright kid? You look like you been in a fight." I shivered at the word fight.

"I have been. In a rumble. I'm ok." Pony shakes it off.

"I'll take care of you when we get to the house." I say.

"I hate to tell you this kiddo, but you're bleeding all over my seats." The guy looks at Pony concerned.

"I am?"

Your head." The man reaches up and points at Pony's head. Sure enough there was a gush of blood pouring down his head.

"Gosh mister, I'm sorry." Pony apologizes.

"Don't worry about it. This wrecks been through worse. What's your address? I'm not about to dump a hurt kid and his girlfriend out on the streets at this time of night." Pony went to object about the girlfriend part but I cut in.

"Thanks sir, but he is my brother." Pony looks at me funny but went ahead and told him the address.

We finally get to the house and walk inside. I tell the guy over my shoulder a thank you and he drives off. Before I went inside I didn't know what to tell the guys. Hey guys, Johnny's dead and Dally has lost his mind. That's just not how it works.

Pony and I walk through the door staring at the gang. Steve was spread out across the couch with his shirt unbuttoned and had a side bandage. He looked to be sleeping. Soda had a huge cut on his lip and a bruise across his cheek. Darry had a bandage on his forehead and a black eye. He was examining his knuckles which looks to have teeth marks on it. Two-bit had his face taped up.

"Where have you two been?" Darry breaks me out of my thoughts. He looks at us more closely.

"Pony what's the matter? Lola you alright. You still sick?" I went to open my mouth to speak then shut it. I pressed my lips together. I didn't know what to say.

"Johnny he's dead. We told him about beating the socs and I don't know he just died." Everyone looks sad and about to cry.

"Dallas is gone. He ran out like the devil was after him. He's going to blow up. He couldn't take it." Pony says quickly.

"So he finally broke. Even Dally has a breaking point." Two-bit says.

"Ponyboy, you look sick. Sit down. You too Lola." Soda says softly as he walks up to us.

"I'm fine." I step back toward the door.

"I'm okay, I don't want to sit down. Don't touch me." Pony says on edge. Darry and Soda walk up to him. Then the phone rang. Darry walks over to the phone and answers it. He hangs up quickly and looks at all of us.

"It was Dally. He phoned from a booth. He just robbed a grocery store and the cops are after him. We got hide him. He'll be at the lot in one minute." As soon as I heard that I ran out of the door. Heading straight to the lot.

Finally the gang catches up to me as we reach vacant lot. Dally came in and ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction. I could hear the police sirens getting louder as they pull up and exit out of their car. Dally circles around the street lights and pulls out a black object. Bucks gun.

"DALLAS DON'T!" I tried to warn him. His eyes catches mine. His lips moved to say something. 'I love you' was what I saw. I could see that it was too late. The cops fired their weapons and empty the bullets into his body.

"NO!" I screamed. The lot was filled with an echo of gunshots. Dally's body falls to the ground under the street light. He crawls his way to us as I kept running. He stops crawling and rolls over. I kneel down unsure of what to do. The gang was right behind me.

"Come on Dal. Come on Dal, don't die on me." I fight the tears back. I prop his head on my lap as he takes his last breath. My hands were covered in his blood.

"No, don't do this to me. Please. Dallas wake up. Wake up goddammit!" I shout as I shake his body.

"Easy buddy there's nothing we can do now." Soda held Steve. I've never seen Steve cry before.

Please, not him. I can't lose him and Johnny both. I can't deal with that. Two-bit's arms wrap around me as he pulls me away. I cried. I broke into tears. This is the time that I can actually feel weak. Because I'm at my breaking point. This is it. My heart was ripped right out of my chest.

"You stupid bastards! It wasn't loaded." I cursed at the cops. I felt the urge to throw up again and I did. All over two-bit. He didn't seem to care. I felt kinda funny in the head. I was very cold, relaxed, no need to freak out, cause for alarm, no pain of any kind, totally peaceful. Everything grew dark around the edges until there was only blackness.

"Lola! Wake up. Don't you do this to me. I can't lose you too." I could hear a familiar voice crying. My body was shutting down and then there was peace. Peace and quiet for once in my life. I didn't have to worry bout the fact Johnny died a hero and Dally went out guns blazing.
