working hard

After getting up in the morning and heading to the dingo it was a very easy morning. We barely get anyone in the morning. And if we do get people they usually just want wings and a pepsi. Hardcore drinkers normally come around 6 o'clock and that carries out until 11. We close around 1 am. Legally we can't sell alcohol until 2 pm. (Probably not true)

I was cleaning the shot glass the night crew didn't do last night. I'm always cleaning up after the people that work before me. Not complaining because I would rather clean than deal with a difficult customer.

"Hey doll face can I get a whisky with a splash of coke?" I heard a deep male voice behind me.

"Sorry, we can't sell any alcohol yet. I can get you something else or come back around 2." I don't face the man. I was too busy with the millions of shot glasses.

"How about you and your fine self hangout with me until 2 pm?" I could hear the man snickering.

"Sorry I'm with someone." I smiled to myself as I turn the water off and set most of the shot glasses in a drying rack.

"What with one of those hoodlum greasers?" The man laughs. His obnoxious self is making my skin boil. Never in my life have I turned around so fast to face this disgusted man.

"Listen hear bub. If your not going to order anything there's the door. I'm not here to get personal and shit with someone too dumb to not know that  in the state Oklahoma you're not allowed to sell alcohol before 2 p.m." It took every ounce of my humanity not to whip out my blade on this jerk.

The guy gets up off the bar stool and leans forward across the counter getting in my face. I don't move a muscle instead I do the famous Dallas Winston grin.  Speaking of Dallas he walks into the bar all high and mighty.

"Lola?" He calls out. His voice echos through out the empty bar. Except me and this stupid jerk.

"Right here." I say between my teeth. I could feel him looking at me, sensing the tension between me and this man. The man didn't move he keeps his eyes locked on me.

"We got a problem?" Dally walks up to the man grabbing his shirt collar and presses him against the counter.

"Not at all." He grimaces.

"Good. Hey babe. Everything ok?" Dally leans over the counter and kisses me.

"All good. You meeting up with the boys?" Dally drops the man to the ground as he takes a seat.

"Yep, going to walk around town and once it starts getting dark we'll watch a movie. Came to tell you that Buck is having some races going on tonight and I thought maybe you wanna go there?" The man gets up, mumbles something about 2 pm. and heads out the door.

"Yeah, that sounds good to me. I get off around 1 so I should be there around 1:30." I shrug my shoulders.

"11:30." I hear a voice echo.

"Roger." I say. He walks on the same side of the bar I am on.

"Changed my mind about the schedule. I see your boyfriend wants to spend time with you and you work really hard for me. That man was an asshole. So I'm gonna let you leave early. I'll close with the new girl, so don't worry about locking up." He winks at me and heads to the office.

"I like your boss." Dally smirks.

"He's not so bad." I wipe the counter down.

"Alright. I'm gonna meet up with the boys. I'll see you at Buck's place around 11:30?" Dally hops off the bar stool.

"11:30." I lean over and give him one last kiss.

The rest of the day was not so bad. A new girl came in training to be a bartender. She is great with mixing drinks so I didn't need to teach her that. But I did have a teach her our safety procedures, going home during the night, never locking up by yourself and dealing with a difficult customer. Other than that she's pretty good. She was way older than me. Of course everyone that works in this bar is older than me. I'm 16 years old almost 17 working in bar. 10 o'clock came around the corner fast. I started cleaning up my area. Disposing all the empty liquor bottles and soda cans in the recycling bin. I started wiping down the tables, cleaning up trays and sweeping. Of course Roger wants me to leave around 11:30. I'm not complaining but I'd rather get everything done then have someone clean up after me. From what Roger told me him and the new girl will be locking up. He says she need the experience. After I finish cleaning my area. 11 o'clock came, so I walked myself over to Rogers office telling him goodnight and thank him for the rest of the night off.

Instead of heading home to change, I went straight to Buck's place. There would be no reason for me to. It was the usual back tight shirt with jeans
Of course I look stupid for walking down the street by myself. It didn't bother me none I still have my switchblade tucked in my bra.

I get up to Buck Merrill's place and let myself in. Buck's place was crowded with people who are either yelling, screaming or singing to the lyrics of the music that was blaring loudly. So loud that I couldn't understand a word or what the song was. The TV was up loud too so people can watch the horses run the track. I didn't mind horse racing it just wasn't my thing. I mean I can ride a horse I just wasn't all about competition when it came to it. I think that you should just enjoy and relax while riding. I was looking all over the place for Dally. I did find Buck hanging out with a bunch of broads near the bar.

"Buck!" I yell hoping he could hear me. Not a chance.

"Hey Buck!" I walk up to him and punch his arm. He turns to face me.

"Lola." He tries to hand me a drink but I shake my head no.

"Yeah, hey Buck. Have you seen Dallas around?" I look around the room.

"Up in the bedroom." He points toward the stairs as I nod my head and thank him.

As I go up the stairs I peak inside the first bedroom and see it was empty. I walk into the second bedroom it was two couple kissing. Awkward. The third bedroom was finally Dally. He had his shirt off, shoes off and laying face down on the bed.
