"Hey you." He smirks.
"Hey." I smile back. We walk over to Pony to see if he was all right. He looked to be fine other than a cut across his throat and a bruise.
"I was coming home from the movies I didn't think," Before Pony could have answered Darry cut him off.
"you don't ever think. Not at home or anywhere when it counts. you must think at school, with all those good grades you bring home you've always got your nose in a book, but do you ever use your head for a common sense? No siree, Bub. And if you did have to go by yourself you should have carried a blade."
"Leave my kid brother alone, you hear? It ain't his fault he likes to go to the movies, and it ain't his fault the socs like to jump us, and if he had been carrying a blade it would have been a good excuse to cut him to ribbons." Soda glares at Darry.
"When I want my kid brother to tell me what to do with my other kid brother, I'll ask you, kid brother." Darry responses as he walks back in the house.
"Kid okay?" Dally ask.
"I'm okay. What are you doing out of the cooler Dally." Pony said.
"Oh yeah, what were you doing walking by your lonesome?" Steve holds his nose.
"None of your business." Pony says.
"Non of my business, it is too my business look at my nose." Steve's nose gushes blood.
"Looks like you need a nose job." I laughed.
"Oh shut up Lola." Steve lets go of his nose as the blood spills out.
"Nose looks big." Two-bit comes in trying to pinch Steve's nose.
"Alright. Smartass." Steve swings at him.
"So how did you get out?" Everyone ask Dally.
"Good behavior got off early." Dally lights a cigarette handing it to Johnny.
"Hey Johnny, hows it going bro." Dally wraps an arm around Johnny and I.
"It be a lot better if them socs stayed on the south side." He responses.
"Don't you worry Johnny. We are going to have it out with them soon or later." Steve says.
"We sure as hell are if they keep coming on our side of town. We need another rumble." Soda finishes.
"Those the same guys that got you two?" Dally looks at Johnny and I.
"Nah, it was other guys." Johnny mumbles.
"It wont them. Don't worry." I kick a rock looking down at the ground.
"I'm gonna worry and I'm gonna make it my business to get the guy that did that to your face and the two guys that took you away and," Dally pointed at Johnny and I as we got quiet. He couldn't finish his sentence. Nobody wanted to bring it up what happened that night. I never want to talk about it.
"Come here." He pulls me into a hug.
"Hey what do you think about me being your personal body guard, ponyboy?" Two-bit jokes.
"I don't think its too hot of an idea." He replies.
"Next time get one of us to go with you Pony, any of us will." Two-bit shrugs his shoulders.
"Yeah Pony, Lola and I could have taken you to the movie. I would have been fine with that." Kathy looks at him as he nods his head.
"Speaking of movies. I'm walking over to the nightly double tomorrow night anybody want to come?" Dally yawned flicking his bud looking at me.
"I gotta work. Maybe after my shift we can hang out, since you just got out." Smiling I bite the corner of my lip as he licks his.
"Yeah, we can do that." He looks down at me smirking.
"Me and Soda are pickin' up Evie and Sandy for the game." Steve gave Pony one of those cocky smiles.
"How about y'all? Two-bit? Kathy? Johnnycake, you and Pony wanta come?" Dally leaned forward to look at the rest.
"Me and Johnny'll come." Pony said.
"We were planning on getting boozed up tomorrow night, if we don't we'll walk over and find y'all." Two-bit kissed Kathy as she giggled.
"We better get going." She tells two-bit.
"Alright, you guys mind giving me a push start?" Two-bit and Kathy get in his car as Pony and Johnny help push the car.
"We should do the same." Dally says as he opens the gate.
"See ya Dally." Pony says.
"See ya guys." Dally says.
"Later Lola, Dal." Johnny nods his head.
"Bye guys." I smiled and waved.
