Eric's POV
We walked out to the park and sat down on a bench.
"I have to go home soon to watch my foster puppies" Said Julie.
I was a bit shocked. "NO WAY! YOU'RE A DOG FOSTER TOO?" I asked excitedly.
I saw her eyes widen. "You- YOU'RE A FOSTER?" She practically jumped up and down. How cute!
"Yeah that's so cool!!" I said.
"My first one was a little puppy named Nellie. She was the cutest thing! She had a lot of accidents, but that's a puppy thing I guess."
"My first one was a Lab-Collie mix named Delphinium. Don't ask, she came with the name. She was gonna have puppies, and three weeks later, she did. About a month and 5 days later, we found out the pups had Parvo. We didn't get them help in time, and they... Died." I realized a tear was on my cheek. I loved those puppies. I wiped it away quickly hoping she wouldn't notice.
I cleared my throat. "Let's, uhh, head back in." I said.
Julie's POV
Awww!!! Poor guy! I can't believe he cried.
We went inside.
"I gotta talk to Jeb." He said.
We parted ways and I walked down the hallway and began to write in my book.
Jake walked over to me with a flirtatious smile on his face. "Hey Jul, you look nice." he said.
"Thanks, now whaddya want?" I asked.
"I want you to go out with me." He said.
"No, sorry, I don't date jerks." I folded my arms.
I stated simply.
"Why not?" He bit his lip seductively and stared at my lips then back into my eyes.
"I saw your social network profiles, and I saw how many 'girlfriend selfies' you posted. How stupid do you think I am?!" I retorted.
I unfolded my arms and clenched my fists.
"Oh, baby, I was just looking for the right one. Could be you." He smirked at me.
"Don't call me that!" I yelled. "And what if I'm not the right one?? Will you throw me away like you threw them away?! Answer me honestly!" I was beginning to tremble.
"Honestly... yeah." He looked at the floor.
I felt a tear drop down my cheek.
He took me by the wrist and-
"What are you doing?!" I spun around hoping it wasn't who it sounded like. What my luck. It was.
Eric's POV
I was walking down the hall with Jeb, and,
Oh crap! WHAT THE HECK?! I saw Jake grab Julie's wrist! I saw her tear-stained face. What if he was being a jerk to her?! Was he bullying her?!
I opened my mouth, then shut it fast.
"What are you doing?" I yelled at Jake.
"Uh, um, I-I." He stuttered.
Before I could even think about what I was doing, I snatched Jake's arm off of Julie's wrist.
I pushed him up against the wall. I heard Julie's start to sniffle and cry a bit.Jeb walked over to her and held her in his arms. Why does everyone want to touch her?!
"Eric, chill." said Jeb.
I released my grip on Jake's shirt collar.
Jeb loosened his grasp on Julie just enough so she could dart away into a classroom nearby.
I completely forgot about Jake and tried to go after her.
"Don't." said Jeb grabbing my forearm.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because she needs to be alone for a few minutes to think about what happened." hereplied.
Seemed logical enough.
"Dang, you got it bad for this chick!" He said.
Oh boy. Let the teasing and tormenting begin.
"No, I'm just a concerned friend." I lied through my teeth.
"Yeah right. I'm a concerned friend. I didn't pin Jake to the wall. You, however, got really overprotective. I know why; because you like her. Don't deny it. I know you do." he stated.
I didn't argue this time.
"I think it's been long enough." I said and walked to the classroom she was in.
"Yeah you go get her tiger!" I heard Jeb yell.
"Shut up." I groaned.
I walked into the room.
She was in a corner of the classroom, collapsed into a heap.
"Hey." I said like an idiot who had no idea what just happened.
"Sorry about that. I just don't like it when you talk to Jake. I can tell he's trouble." I said.
"No kidding." she said. "What's he doing here anyway?"
"He doesn't have anything to do at home, so he came here." I replied.
There was a long, awkward silence.
"End of the first week." She sighed.
My eyes lit up. "Hey, can I have your number?" I asked.
"Of course! It's ***-***-****." She replied.
"Thanks." I said with a grin and a wink.
"Laters." I said.
"Bye." She said
