Eric's POV
We crawled through the vent quietly, trying as hard as possible not to attract any attention from the kidnappers. I heard some soft grunting coming from the left side.
"Left here." I whispered. "I hear one of the guys."
Jeb stopped crawling and listened. "Yeah I hear it, too."
We turned left into a slightly wider part of the ventilation system.
"Make sure you spread out. Too much weight on one area could break the vent." I said softly.
We came to an opening above the bathroom Julie was in. Sure enough, there they were. Julie and her captors.
"Julie!" I whispered.
"Shut up, Eric!" Jay hissed from behind me.
Luckily, none of the cronies noticed me above them.
"You have a knife, don't you?" I asked Jay. He handed me his pocket knife and I began cutting the mesh separating me and Jul. I made sure to pull the mesh up instead of letting it fall into the bathroom. Surprise is key: I'll jump in there and we'll shove them out the door, lock it, free Julie, bring her up the ventilation system, find Alice, save her, end of story. It sounded so perfect in my head. So easy. I could almost taste the satisfaction of saving my love and my little Alice. I dropped in silently landing in one of the stalls, then Jeb dropped in next to me, and then Jay. "Hey Jay, so nice of you to drop in!" Jeb snorted. I rolled my eyes and said "On the count of three, 1, 2, 3!" And we all burst out of the stall and tackled the men, then shoved them out the door. I took Jay's knife out of my pocket and cut the ropes off of Julie. She removed the gag from her mouth and leaped on me. She started crying and thanking me. I felt so bad that I had let this happen to her.
"Shhh. It's fine. Everything's alright now. I got you. But we have to leave." I held her tightly and then... Realized a flaw in my plan. How are we gonna get back into the vent?!
"Ohhh $***" I groaned. Jeb had apparently realized the situation, too.
Julie facepalmed herself and Jay banged his head against the wall repeatedly.
"We have to think of something else." Julie stated. She looked around. Nothing.
"We're trapped." Jay said. "No duh." Said Jeb.
I was still holding Julie, which probably kept me from slapping myself senseless.
"BANG!"
"What was that?" Jeb asked.
"BANG BANG!"
There it was again.
"The door! They're trying to get in!!" Julie pointed to the door.
That's when I panicked. I have too much to lose. My brother, my friend, my girlfriend.
"I have a plan." Julie had an evil smile on her face and told us her plan. It was amazing!
"Let's do it." Said Jay.
