Julie's POV
Eric and I were on the floor cuddling.
I feel safe when I'm with him, and I think the feeling is mutual.
Suddenly, a voice rang out over the intercom.
"All staff, student counsellors, and campers over the age of 12 please report to the main room, all campers 12 and under, please stay in your classroom with 1 staff member."
"What's going on?" I asked.
"It's and emergency meeting. This sounds serious." Eric replied. This worried me. If Eric was truly scared, I should be, too.
"Did Miss Lydia tell you anything in a previous meeting?" I asked worriedly.
"Not much, only that if an announcement like that was made, we are on lock down." Said Eric.
"Oh my gosh." I whispered. "At my old school, we'd only have lock downs if there was a shoot-out or if it was a drill."
"Hey, Jul, we'll be fine." Eric tried to comfort me. It wasn't working.
"I'm over 12. I want to come with you!" I looked straight up at him with a hopeful gleam in my eyes.
Eric paused for a moment. "Alright. I'd prefer you stay on a classroom so you'd be safe though."
"I wouldn't be safe though." I pointed out.
"Oh. I get it. If there is someone here who wants to hurt us, then the perfect candidate to be hurt would be you. You'd be in here by yourself with no defense mechinism." Said Eric.
"Yeah, so I should come with you." I said.
"Or," crap. I knew there'd be an 'or'. "I could walk you over to a full classroom..."
"NO! I am a thirteen year old! I'm coming with you with or without your consent." I said.
"Okay. I give. Let's go." Eric sighed.
I grabbed his hand and practically dragged him to the main room.
"Got a taste for adventure, huh there Blondie?" Eric laughed.
"Oh, you have no idea." I giggled.
A teacher was standing in front of a group of faculty.
"We have a huge problem. Someone is in the school, and they want to kill us. There are three of them. They're wearing black and white masks and black jumpsuits. They were spotted walking into the camp by a child camper. We have to find all three and protect the young campers." She announced through a microphone.
"Find a group of four or more. You will be stationed either on the left or right wing of the school in each hallway or classroom. We have walkie-talkies and if one is spotted, you will state your wing and the name of the room or hallway and 2 groups will come to help you. They have weapons, so we got sporting equipment from the gym. We have baseball bats, lacrosse sticks, hockey sticks, baseballs, basket balls, softballs, softball bats, etcetera." She finished up the statement. "Good luck."
We found Jeb and a boy named Jay to help us.
"Hey, I'm Jay. I'm 13." Said Jay.
"Cool, I'm Julie, this is Eric, and that's Jeb, but we really don't have the time." I reminded him.
"Right." He simply stated.
"Group 1," the teacher pointed to the group next to us. "Right wing, first classroom and hallway."
She pointed to us. "Group 2, right wing, second hallway and classroom."
She pointed out 13 other groups and assigned them to different parts of the camp.
"You are dismissed to your stations." She commanded.
My group walked to the right wing and into the second hallway.
Our walkie-talkie beeped and went static. A voice was heard over it.
"Emergency! A little red haired girl with green eyes, about 5 named Alice has gone missing! We need a group to volunteer to search for her."
"Oh my gosh." Eric whimpered. "OUR NIECE!" He cried.
I hugged him. "Let's volunteer to find her." I said.
"Hi, this is group 2 right wing second hallway, we'd like to volunteer." Jay said into the walkie-talkie.
"Great!" Said the voice. "She was last seen going in the girls bathroom alone on the left wing." She informed us.
"Let's go!" I said softly to Eric.
I gently took his hand and we headed for the left wing.
"Jul, I can't go in there. None of us can! You have to go in there. It's the girls bathroom!" Jeb pointed out.
"Okay. If I see someone other than her, specifically, the criminals, you have to come in and help me." I said.
"Of course." Said Jay.
Both Jeb and Eric looked broken-hearted. Poor guys. They love that little girl! The thought of losing her is just too much to bear!
In the left wing
We were in the left wing outside the bathroom. I put my hand on the doorknob. "Alright. Let's do this thing."
