Trigger Warning: Death (Semi-descriptive I describe blood flowing. That's it.)
I woke up to find that Loki had left in the middle of the night. I rolled my eyes and plopped back down on the pillow.
Just then, the phone started to ring and I glared at it. I could've gone back to sleep.
I begrudgingly answered the phone.
"Hello?" I grumbled. I cleared my throat. "Sorry, hello?"
"Soph?"
"Who is this?"
"It's Steve."
"Steve? What-How did you get this number? How did you even know I was here?!"
"Tony."
"Okay, but that doesn't explain how you knew what room I was in."
"Call it luck of the draw."
He must have been able to sense me rolling my eyes because he sighed. "Okay, not really. I called three other rooms before this and I think Jarvis answered one."
I smiled. "What's up?"
"Tony told me you shot him. Is that true?"
"Yeah?"
"He was being an ass and punched Loki for making a stupid comment, breaking his nose."
Steve was silent. "He didn't tell me that."
"Yeah, I'll bet he didn't," I rolled my eyes.
"Well, other than the whole shooting incident, your dad is missing."
"What?"
"I found his address and I knew he was pretty unstable so I figured I'd help you out and visit him, but he wasn't there. Do you know where else he'd be?"
"No, he became a recluse after my mom died. Unless he magically got better this quickly, I have no idea where he would be." I panicked. What the hell happened to him? Not to be rude to my dad, but what kidnappers would want a forty-six-year-old recluse that was still grieving his wife months after her death?
He sighed. "I figured. I'll try to look for him, but I figured you should know."
"Thanks, Steve."
"No problem. Oh, I talked to Avery and told her you were with Loki."
"Oh, no," I groaned.
He chuckled. "Yeah, she screamed in my about how she told you so."
I rolled my eyes. "That's Avery. Sorry about that."
"Don't worry about it. It was pretty funny."
I sighed. "Thanks again, Steve."
"You're welcome."
I hung up and got changed before walking down the stairs, exhausted. It was the morning and I was already tired of today.
I pulled my hair into a ponytail as I headed to the kitchen.
Loki smirked when he saw me and I rolled my eyes.
"Rough day?" He guessed as he slid me some pancakes and some coffee.
"Rough existence," I replied and he chuckled. "Thanks," I said and he nodded.
"Tony's been complaining about me to the avengers. He's telling everyone how I shot him in the foot. Steve called me about it."
Loki sighed. "He's such a baby."
I nodded as I took a bite of my pancakes.
"Also, Steve saw Avery which is good I guess. I should be talking to her more. I've been kind of lacking in the best friend department."
