One week, two books, five walks, and eleven cups of tea later, Loki had a proposition.

Loki walked out of the shower and was wiping his hair with a towel.

"Would you like to see Avery?" He asked.

"What?!" I dropped my fork and whipped around to look at him when I saw he was half naked.

I started choking on my food.

He started to run over to try and help but I shook my head and held up a finger. I cleared my throat.

"Fine. I'm fine. I just," I sighed. "Okay, what were you saying?"

"Would you like to see Avery?"

"I thought that's what you said, what the hell?! After all this time? Really, Loki?"

"I thought you'd like to see her before we go to Germany."

"WE'RE GOING TO GERMANY?!" I shouted, jumping between the two beds.

He laughed. "After you told me you knew a lot about Germany, I figured I'd need a proper guide."

I collapsed onto his bed and started freaking out, shouting happily about Germany.

"No more hotel rooms! No more fast food! Germany!" I yelled in delight.

He chuckled as he watched me dance around the room before falling onto the bed with a sigh.

"So, do you want to see Avery?" He asked.

"Heck yeah! I gotta tell her that I'm going to Germany! This is so cool."

He laughed and shook his head.

After both of us got changed. He told Clint and not Clint that we were heading out and they were allowed to get some food and hang out in the hotel rooms until we get back.

I gave him a huge grin once he said that.

"What is it?"

"You're getting better at not treating people like slaves," I told him and he just rolled his eyes. "Seriously! It's so much better than when I first met you."

"Come on," he placed his hand on my waist and guided me towards a cab.

We crawled inside the cab and he told the man the address of my old job.

When we got there, I hopped out of the car and practically flew through the doors.

Loki chuckled as he watched me and handed the man the money afterwards, he followed me into the shop.

I sat on the counter and swung my feet patiently.

"Where is she?" Loki asked.

"Oh, I'm like ninety percent sure she's in Mr. Devito's office right now doing things I'd rather not comment on. I'm not going to risk walking in there and seeing that so I'm waiting out here until she comes down." I told him.

Loki glanced up the stairs to Mr. Devito's office and nodded as if he agreed with this idea and sat on the counter next to me.

Half an hour later, my head was on Loki's shoulder and I was scrolling through Avery's phone, bored out of my mind.

"Okay, that's it." I hopped off the counter and turned to Loki. "I wasn't even this bored in the hotel room, I'm not waiting any longer."

I marched up the stairs to Mr. Devito's office and banged on the door.

"Hey, losers! You have customers!" I shouted. I heard quite a bit of shuffling around, cursing, and possibly the sound of a lamp breaking followed by more cursing.

Eventually, Avery opened the door with a sheepish grin that was quickly replaced by an ecstatic one.

She jumped up and hugged me, causing the blanket she had wrapped around her body to fall down.

My eyes widened and I pulled out of the hug to grab her blanket.

"Woah, Avery, showing it to the world right now," I told her and she laughed.

"Soph, it's just you, me and Robert here. There's nothing to worry about."

"Except the fact that I brought Loki." I gestured to Loki at the bottom of the stairs who waved with wide eyes.

She laughed. "You boyfriend? He was destined to see it soon since you and I basically live together."

"He's not my boyfriend," I mumbled, suddenly becoming a lot more interested in my feet.

She laughed again. "Of course, he isn't." She wrapped one arm around my shoulders and used the other to hold up her blanket. "Sophie, you have got to learn to start making the first move. Otherwise, you'll never date anybody again. Wasn't you last relationship two years ago?"

My cheeks turned dark red. "That is so not what I came to talk to you about."

She barked out a laugh. "What did you come to talk to me about?"

"I'm going to Germany!" I exclaimed.

Her eyes widened and a smile slowly crept across her face. "Really?! That's so cool! Who are you going with?!"

I glanced at Loki and Avery groaned. "YOU'RE GOING TO GERMANY WITH HIM AND YOU'RE STILL NOT DATING?! It has been almost two months and you're not dating him, then the guy invites you to Germany and you still don't think you should go out with him?! I swear to god, Soph, I'd slap you if I wasn't using both hands to hold up this blanket."

"It's not like that! I like that it's going slow!" I tried.

She just rolled her eyes. "Yeah, go any slower and snails will be laughing at the pace you're moving at."

"Changing the subject now," I told her. "Have you been visiting my dad?"

"Yeah, he's not doing too hot."

"What's wrong? What happened?"

"Nothing happened. Don't worry. He's just having a hard time coping. He keeps complaining that you should be mourning your mother not swanning off with some boy."

I rolled my eyes. " I swear to god, that man. He just can't accept the fact that I've chosen to move on with my life instead of spending the rest of my days in a rut with him."

"Honestly, I thought you were just exaggerating when you talked about how he's doing. I thought it couldn't be possible that he was still inconsolable. I figured he had to have gotten a little better but nope. He just spends his days looking at old pictures of her. I suggested once that he should go outside and he looked at me like I just kicked a puppy."

"I guess it could be worse. He could be spending his days in bed, barely eating and barely sleeping. At least he somewhat shows signs of light," I sighed and raked my fingers through my hair.

She nodded then turned to me. "Don't let this stop you from going to Germany. He is recovering, shocking as it may seem, he's just taking steps that are smaller than a baby's. You don't deserve to waste the rest of your life taking care of him and being forced to mourn a mother that's been gone for months. I check up on him every day. He's realizing in your absence that he needs to have a life, even hough he's taking a hell of a long time to do it."

I smiled. "Thank you, Avery."

"No problem. That's what best friends are for."

I hugged her tightly.

"Now go off to Germany with your hot boyfriend," she said as I an down the stairs to Loki.

"He's not my boyfriend!" I called.

"Doubtful!" She replied.
