Wanda and Pietro were fast asleep. Meanwhile, I couldn't stop my mind from racing.
Not about my dad's death and me killing him. Wanda had helped me get over that. About everything. I was pretty sure a battle between the avengers and Loki was going to happen soon. I had no idea how Avery was doing. I didn't know what to tell Steve about my dad. I didn't know if Loki hated me for leaving him alone. There were two beds in that room and Wanda fell asleep in mine.
I walked up to the kitchen and made a warm glass of milk.
I sat on one of the stools beside the counter and stared at the spot where I killed my father.
"Oh, get over it. It's over. The body's gone. Stop moping."
I turned with a smirk towards Loki.
"I'll have you know I was not moping. I am over this already and you're an ass." I took a sip of my milk. "They were right about you, you know."
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow and sat down next to me.
"You really are a bad influence."
He barked out a laugh. "You shouldn't have trusted me."
"I would have been crazy not to."
He smiled. "It's 12:30"
"Yeah?"
"What the hell are you doing up?"
I laughed. "I couldn't sleep."
"Really?" He feigned surprise and I slapped him.
"Shut up. I just kept thinking about, well, everything. The oncoming battle between you and the avengers, and Avery for starters."
"That girl you have downstairs-"
"Wanda?"
He nodded. "Can she keep you safe?"
"I barely know her, but I guess. Why?"
"I want you to stay with her for the rest of the week. I can give you some of Tony's money to pay for a hotel. Make sure to stay on the second or third floor of the hotel."
"What? Why?"
"Because when the battle happens it can damage the first and top floors."
"Wait, so you don't want me with you during the fight?"
He shook his head.
"What the hell, Loki?!"
"I told you I would keep you safe. This is me doing just that."
"No, this is you being incredibly stupid and trying to fight your own battles, which you suck at if you don't remember Germany. I said I'd keep you safe. How the hell am I supposed to do that from a hotel room?"
"It's not your job to keep me safe."
"And it's not your job to make my decisions for me." I threw the cup into the sink and marched out of the room. "I'm staying here whether you like it or not!"
I went down the stairs and into the room with Wanda and Pietro. I collapsed onto the bed with Wanda and drifted off to sleep.
When I woke up, Wanda was gone and Pietro was still asleep.
I knew Wanda was still there because she wouldn't leave Pietro behind. I figured she was probably in the bathroom and I headed out to get breakfast.
I made myself some cereal and started watching Doctor Who when Wanda walked in with Loki.
I turned around and smirked. "You two make a cute couple!" I remarked and both of their eyes bulged.
Wanda slowly shook her head and Loki looked like he'd be more than happy to murder Loki at that exact moment.
I laughed and Wanda joined me on the couch.
"You know I was joking right?"
She smiled. "Yeah."
Loki made some coffee and made mugs for all three of us. We all watched Doctor Who together until Pietro stumbled in yawning.
Wanda put her mug down and guided him down the hall so she could talk to him.
"What was that about?" I frowned.
"No idea," Loki lied unconvincingly.
I rolled my eyes and ignored it, thinking it was nothing until Wanda marched out of the hallway and up the steps.
Pietro walked back over and sheepishly sat beside me. "What did she talk to you about?" I asked.
"What? Oh, nothing," he was a bad liar too.
Wanda walked back down the stairs and tossed a suitcase to Pietro.
He sped down the stairs and out the door to Stak tower at the speed of light.
"Super speed?" I guessed, gesturing to Pietro.
Wanda nodded.
"Nice."
"Okay, I guess now's the best time to do it. You have to come with us." Wanda told me.
"What?"
"Loki gave me the money for a hotel and told me everything he told you. Pietro just took your suitcase to the hotel."
"Oh, hell no," I said, standing up and backing away.
"Soph, please don't make me do this the hard way."
"And what's the hard way?"
Pietro raced back up the steps and looked between Wanda and I. I quickly realized what "the hard way" was and glanced at Loki.
"I can't believe you did this."
Right after I said that, Pietro picked me up bridal style and sped us to the hotel room.
When we got there, he placed me on the bed and I fell backward, ready to cry.
"I'm sorry," Pietro tried.
"I know," I shook my head. "It's fine."
"He just wants to protect you," Wanda told me as she walked into the hotel room.
"I know that too. I can't even hate him for this because he was trying to protect me. I think that's the worst part."
"He really cares about you. He kept telling me this was for your own good and that he wants you to survive this."
"And what about him, huh? He never really thinks about how it will al end for him. He could serve a life sentence at Asgard, the place he hates. He could be killed. He doesn't think about that because compared to me dying that's the better alternative for him. Little does he know, I'd rather die a thousand times in the crossfire than deal with him dying and coping with that for the rest of my boring existence." I stood up and walked toward the window. I opened the blinds and stared at Stark tower from the window.
"Now, I'm here in this stupid hotel!" I kicked the wall, angrily. "And he's going to risk his life and there's nothing I can do about it."
"Do you love him?" Wanda asked.
I turned to her. "Yes."
"Then, go to him."
