I decided to stay with Wanda and Pietro until the next day before going back. Mostly because right after she told me I should go to him she listed off a bunch of reasons why I should go to him the next day.
So, I did. I waited to the next day.
That's also when the attack started.
Pietro couldn't go out to help because he could barely control his powers and Wanda looked positively terrified at the concept of powers.
I decided to just walk out into the midst of the chaos and if this was really started by Loki. All of them would know me and none of them would attack me.
For once in my life, my overconfidence paid off.
I walked in the middle of the street and nothing attacked me.
The avengers were more than pissed.
I walked through everything, straight towards Stark tower. Now, I was slightly nervous. I wasn't just yelling at Loki for sending me away or asking him to let me stay with him anymore.
This was real.
I walked into the elevator and held my breath as I headed up to the top floor. The elevator doors opened and I watched Loki smile as he watched the attack.
The elevator doors closed and Loki turned around.
"I do hope you're going to appeal to my humanity."
"That, and maybe a bit of sentiment."
He turned around and stared at the attack.
"Sentiment," he scoffed. "Is this love?"
I just looked at him. I really didn't want to answer that.
"You tell me," I said.
"I wouldn't know," he told me.
I knew he was being honest. He had never fallen in love before.
"Um, okay, is your heart racing?"
"Yes," he started to walk closer towards me.
My heart started to race.
"Do you feel like you can barely catch your breath?"
"Yes," he moved closer. I couldn't breathe.
"I have a question," he said. "Does love include an overwhelming urge to kiss you right here and right now?"
"I-"
And then he kissed me. Hard at first, urgent, as if he felt like this was his last second to kiss me. Then, he melted into a softer, sweeter kiss.
He rested one hand on the small of my back, pushing me closer to him and the other hand on the back of my head, keeping me close to him.
It took everything in me just to keep standing and to stop my knees from buckling. Especially, when he pulled away and gazed at me through his eyelashes.
I fought to keep standing up straight and to not scream with joy.
"You need to go," he told me.
That snapped me out of my happy daze really quick.
"What- But we just- what?!"
"I know, that's why you need to go. This is about to get so much worse and I don't plan on risking you in the middle of all of it."
"That's so not fair."
"Tell me. Enlighten me on how it's unfair to not want to risk my girlfriend's life?"
"You're not even giving me a choice! You're just telling me what I have to do. You're not letting me decide that maybe I don't care if I die because I'm not willing to let you die."
"No life in this city, or even on this planet, is worth you."
"Nor you!"
He walked behind the counter in the kitchen and pressed a button. I knew he just called Tony's suit and sent it flying back here and that pissed me off more than anything.
"I made my choice a while ago and I'm never going to leave you, Loki."
Right after I said that, Tony came flying in.
I was going to lie and say it was a false alarm when Loki nodded to me.
"Take her."
"No," I shook my head.
Tony grabbed me by my waist and I tried to rip his metal arm off of me.
"Stop it! Let me go!" He started flying away and I wanted to scream, or cry, or maybe both.
I saw Loki watching me with a look of complete hopelessness and I knew I had to get back to him.
"LET ME GO! TAKE ME BACK!" I punched Tony's arms and kicked his legs. "STOP IT! TAKE ME BACK!"
He started to fly me towards the ground and I began to cry. "Take me back!" I screamed desperately.
He put me down on the ground and I collapsed into a ball.
"Take me back," I sobbed.
"What happened?"
"Loki gave her up."
I cried endlessly. Nat walked over and rubbed my back soothingly before sitting down next to me. She wrapped an arm around me and I cried into her shoulder.
When I eventually felt like I couldn't cry anymore, I whispered my hotel room to Nat and explained that I had friends in there.
Nat nodded, stood up, and walked over to Steve.
"Steve, she has friends in a hotel nearby. I'll go get them, but I think you should go get Avery. She needs all the help she can get right now."
Steve nodded and they both went their separate ways.
Nat returned a couple minutes later with Wanda and Pietro.
Wanda knelt down next to me. "Do you need lots of ice cream and chocolate?" She asked and I giggled.
"So, I'm guessing that's a yes?"
I laughed and nodded.
Pietro picked me up and carried me bridal style. "You deserve a proper ride after all that you've been through."
I grinned and he instead of speeding to the hotel room, he walked me there, carrying me bridal style, and somehow that was even better.
We arrived at the hotel room and Wanda called room service to get all the chocolate they had and Pietro turned on horror movies.
When room service arrived, they just had a cart filled with chocolatey items. Hot chocolate, chocolate candy bars, chocolate ice cream, you name it they had it.
All of our eyes bugged when we saw pure beauty for the first time.
"I'm going to go into a sugar coma," Pietro sighed and we all laughed even though we knew it was true.
We ate as much chocolate as humanly possible before combusting.
"So, how do you feel now?" Wanda asked as we lied on out beds, exhausted.
I laughed. "I feel so much better. You guys are the best."
"Why thank you." Pietro grinned.
