Guess Who's Coming Home For Christmas

After Clint brought back food I asked for new clothes as well since all my clothes were either at Avery's or home and I'm just selfish like that.

He has surprisingly good taste in women's clothes for a guy carrying a bow and arrow and looking like the opposite of someone who is knowledgeable about women's fashion.

He bought me seven different outfits so I had enough for a week.

Afterwards, we finished dinner and I took a shower in the hotel rooms bathroom. Then, I fell asleep.

The days started to fall into a blur of routine.

I'd let the guys outside know when I woke up and we'd all eat breakfast together. After that, I would find some new way to entertain myself whether it was; doodling, watching tv, or watching people outside my window.

That last one was always entertaining because it was New York, so you would never know what you would see. One day I saw a man dumping his boyfriend on a street corner, the next I saw a couple make out for three minutes straight without coming up for air.

It's always fascinating to watch peoples habits when they think they aren't being watched. That's when people are at their most relaxed state of mind.

After I did that, the guys would bring lunch and we'd usually have sandwiches or salads.

I'd return to my activity before lunch until dinner and the guys would bring take out for dinner.

On Fridays and Saturdays they would bring dessert and that's the only way I kept track of how much time had passed.

I would count back to how many days ago they brought dessert or how many desserts I've had in this room.

When you spend weeks locked in a room with just yourself, you begin to learn things about yourself you never knew. For example, I hate hotel rooms.

It was a month until Loki finally came back and allowed me to speak to an actual being conscious of his actions.

He told me where he traveled and the different places he saw while he was away.

I laughed when he told me how many girls tried to hit on him.

He was very upset that I didn't tell him how strange his attire was to normal humans and told me how he was laughed at a lot.

I laughed at him and told him that the woman at the desk calling his outfit a Halloween costume should've been a clue but he just rolled his eyes.

He asked me how I've been and I described the last month in agonizing detail.

"There's not much you can do in a hotel room, but I guess I've found ways to entertain myself," I shrugged.

"I'm impressed," he nodded. "I would've expected you to have lost your mind at this point."

"I've had some close calls." I laughed. "When your only company is two brainwashed dudes who hesitate at everything you request because they don't know if the great Loki will allow them, it can be pretty maddening."

"They don't do everything you ask?"

"They do, they just hesitate each time because they don't know if you'll allow it."

He frowned and thought for a moment. "I'll have to fix that."

"Don't kill them or torture them!" I called as he walked out of the room. He waved me off and I rolled my eyes.

I fell back onto the bed as he started yelling at the two of them.

I groaned. "At least he's not killing them," I muttered.

He walked back in and fixed his hair, making me laugh.

I watched him as he stared in the mirror beside the TV making sure his hair was perfect.

"It's not a beauty competition," I reminded him and he rolled his eyes.

"Shut it." He mumbled and I laughed even harder.

He sat down beside me and smirked as he looked down at me.

I turned over on my side and looked up at him.

"How long will you be here for? If you don't mind me asking. I'd rather not go back to the brainwashed shells of men if I can avoid it."

He chucked and looked away.

"A month. Then I have to leave again."

"Where will you be going after the month?" I wondered.

"Germany." He replied.

"Germany?!" I exclaimed.

"Yes?"

"That's so cool!" I started jumping on the bed and he laughed.

"I studied Germany a lot in my world history class. My teacher had grandparents from there so she knew a lot about it."

He nodded.

"I met Avery." He said and I stopped jumping and fell onto the bed.

"What?"

"The girl who's in love with a mannequin?"

"Can we not bring that up?" I laughed.

"I went to the store you worked at and met her. She got very happy when I told her you were with me."

I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Yep, that's her. Wait. How did you find out where I worked? I never told you that."

"Oh, Sophie. You think I didn't look you up? You and Avery are listed as the only two employees."

I nodded and shrugged. "What can I say? Our boss is a dick."

"What about your father? I was unable to find anything about him."

"Yeah, I'd be surprised if you could. He quit his job after my mom died and became a recluse. He wouldn't allow himself to move on from her death and because of that he found the idea that I could move on with my life impossible."

"How did she die?"

"Cancer. She put up one hell of a fight though. She never stopped fighting even when the doctor's told her that she had no shot at survival unless a miracle occurred." I smiled as I remembered her. "That was the woman who taught me to never judge a book my it's cover. She showed me that the world isn't just made up of good people and bad people like storybooks would have us believe. Everyone has a past and you should never judge someone unless you know that past. She was basically my hero." My eyes started to water and I tried to wipe them away before Loki noticed, but I wasn't quick enough.

He wrapped an arm around me awkwardly and I placed my head on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry."

"It just sucks because my dad basically dismissed the fact that I was grieving because I let it all out after she died and spent maybe two weeks in a rut over it and he's spent a month in a rut and because of that he thinks he's better at grieving than me."

"Fathers don't like to view their child's reasoning unless it's similar to theirs." Loki remarked and I couldn't agree more.
