Cheshire walked in the house and decided to take a short nap before facing dinner. She grabbed her bag from the counter and headed off to the stairs. She made a quick glance to the big cabinet and wondered what kind of animal was inside it or was the noise that she heard not so long ago was part of her sister's dirty scheme. She finally shrugged the matter off and took the steps.

Two house maidens were walking through the hall near the library as she strolled by. She spot one dusting off the tables. She made an abrupt turn to her right instead of walking straight to her bedroom. Cheshire knocked twice before calling out. "Dad?"

She leaned her head to the wooden door and heard the sound of paper flipping, then finally heard a husky voice. "Come in." She opened the door quietly and saw him sitting down on his work desk, wearing his spectacles. He was wearing a polo shirt and a tie paired with casual black pants, his usual working attire. She guessed that he just arrived from work from a building they owned. Lying on the floor was Sparky, her canine pet. The poodle was wagging its tail while laying down comfortably on the floor. She approached the dog and petted its head, touching its white furry skin.

"How are you today Sparky?" The dog only barked out loud to her in response. A smile crossed his father's face upon seeing his daughter.

"Cheesecake!" her father beamed.

" Whats up dad?" she asked turning her attention to the mess of papers all over his desk. "Nothing much. I'm just trying to find something I might have misplaced," he was checking up the papers on his desk. " I can help you if you like,"she added politely.

"Thank you cheesecakes but I don't want to bother you and your homework. I'm not sure its even in this office, must have left it in the building. I really am getting older, I'm having trouble remembering where I put my stuff," he added with a chuckle.

"Nope, no homework for today. At least school is giving me a break. I'm sure I have plenty of time to help you look for it," she sat down on the chair next to him."So what is that stuff you were searching"

" Nevermind darling, I'll just let someone from our staff look for it. If its not here then its probably back in the building. So how about we talk about your birthday?" his father dismissively piled the papers on the table and filed it down the drawer and he took off his glasses then placed it down before turning his attention fully back to her.

"There is nothing to talk about dad. Everything's good, I already practically invited almost the whole student body. Jill took care with the invitations this early morning. Even our principal might come over. Mom said she already arranged the catering for the food and Aunt Tiffany said there will no problem with decorations. Plus mom told me she already bought me a surprise dress, which supposedly will be her birthday present to me for tomorrow. Everythings great," she concluded.

Cheshire moved closer to him then gave him a big hug. " Thanks dad for giving me this party. It doesn't necessarily have to be a masquerade and a ball though. I was fine with a simple dinner, just you me, mom, Jasmine, and Damien. Oh and Jill too. You don't have to go overboard with it. I'm fine if it was just, you know, us. "

"My baby girl is already turning 18, you deserve the best. And besides, you are going to college in just a few months, and this is your last chance to mingle with your friends. The masquerade and ball thing was your sisters idea, and your mother liked it so don't blame it on me. I only want whats best for you," her father stated sincerely. "So what do you want for your gift from me?"

She turned to him with a slight frown," Gift? Isn't the party enough. I don't need one dad. You practically already given me everything. I couldn't ask for more."
