Armin Arlert - Ocean

You were finally free.  Finally free of the Walls, free of the Titans...  You could go wherever you wanted to go.  Repopulate the Earth.  Take back what the Titans took from humanity.  But, there was one aspect of it that you didn't like: the feeling that your boyfriend, Armin, was going to leave you.  He'd always wanted to see the world with Eren, why would he not go just to stay with you?  It was his dream, you knew that you couldn't keep him from that.

"Hey y/n," Armin said as he ran up to you, gripping your hand.  "Come on, we're going somewhere."

"Armin, I-" you began, trying to tell him that you wanted him to live his dream, but he cut you off.

"We'll talk later, but I really want you to see this.  I promise, we'll talk after."  He pulled on your hand, leading you to a carriage with a horse.  "Do you trust me?"

You nodded, slowly.  "Yes, Armin.  I trust you.  Why?"

He motioned to the carriage.  "Then let's get out of here, at last.  Our destination awaits."

"Where are we going, exactly?"  You looked around, seeing your best friend get on a different carriage.  It hurt, that you were probably never going to see any of those people again. 

"You'll see," he said with a smile as he led you into the carriage.  "I promise, you'll love it."

After several hours of riding in the carriage, Armin turned to you with a smile on his face.  "Close your eyes."

"Is this where the trust part comes in?"

He chuckled, putting his arm around you as he did so.  "Yes, it is.  Please, just do it."

You sighed but closed your eyes, and he put his hand over them just to make sure you couldn't see.  "Is this really necessary?" you complained.  You couldn't believe that you'd waited your entire life to see what was beyond the Walls, and now Armin's hand was blocking the view.  You felt awful for not telling him to pursue his dreams while you could've left on your own, but you pushed the feeling down and waited.

"Okay," he said after a while, gently using his hand to turn your head.  "Look in this direction as we get off, okay?"

You sighed but nodded as he removed his hand, looking in the direction he told you to. 

"Okay, now you can turn around."

You turned around, faced with a beautiful sight.  Blue water spread out as far as the eye could see, to be matched with a beautiful sunset on the horizon.  There was sand beneath your feet, already covering your shoes.

"This is the ocean," he said as he grabbed onto your hand.  "Beautiful, isn't it?"

You turned to look at him, unable to keep the smile from your face.  "You knew this existed?  Why'd you never tell me?"

He shrugged, giving you an adorable half-smile.  "I wanted to surprise you.  I always told Eren, the first thing I'd do when we could leave the Walls is going to be to take you to see the ocean."

At the mention of the guy he planned to leave to see the world with, your smile dropped.  You loved Eren like a brother, but you knew that he was going to take Armin away from you, probably forever.  "Speaking of Eren, where is he?  I thought you were going to see the world with him?"

Armin sighed, playing with your fingers.  "Yeah, um...  About that..."

You looked into his eyes.  They matched the ocean, you realized.  "Armin, I know you want to see the world.  I know you and Eren have plans.  I'm not going to stop you, and I'm not going to hold you down.  You do whatever you wanna do.  Don't worry about me.  Follow your dreams."

He stared at you for a moment before speaking.  "Follow my dreams, huh?"

"Yeah," you said as you looked down.  "I'll be okay."

His eyes met yours again a moment later.  But not from him raising your face, but lowering his own.  His entire body, actually, until one of his knees was in the sand.  "Okay then, if I'm following my dreams: marry me."

Your eyes widened.  "Wh-what?"

He nodded.  "Yeah, you heard me.  You are my dream, y/n.  I don't care what sight I see, because I've already seen the most beautiful of them all."

"What about Eren?  You guys had plans..."

He shrugged.  "I'd much rather see the world with you than Eren.  So, what do you say?  Will you come see the world with me, and marry me along the way?"

You nodded, tears forming in your eyes as you hugged him.  "Of course I will."

He smiled, pressing a soft and gentle kiss to your lips.  "I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too," you whispered back.
