I walked quickly to my locker. I didn't have to worry about Axel following me because coach escorted him to Principal Lee's office as soon as I walked away. I had enough of the whispers and taunting.
"That's her.." a freshman pointed me out to her friend.
"Ignore them." Taylor walked up beside me.
"Not going to happen." I slammed my locker shut and approached the young girl.
"By, God, It is me! What you want an autograph? And how will I sign it? Oh! I know, ' to nosey little girls who need to mind their own business, love Axel's latest whore."
The girl's jaw dropped. " I uh... I..I.." she stammered. "I was just wondering if it was true.."
"Easy, Ry..." Taylor advised before I answered her question, a little calmer.
"If what was true?" I asked crossing my arms. "If I'm the newest slut of Wood Port High? Given all the talk around school apparently, I am."
I wish people would find something better to do. but I couldn't ignore their whispers anymore.
"No, not that." The girl standing next to her spoke. I turned to face her. "Is it true that you and Axel and another girl had a threesome on a teacher's desk and got caught by Coach Grant? And that's why he has detention?" She asked a little ashamed that she was even asking the question.
"Wow, I haven't heard that one." Despite laughing hysterically, tears threatened to spill.
I knew if I cried I wouldn't be able to stop, so I bit my lip and turned to Taylor. "Have you heard that one yet?" I asked between laughs.
At the shake of her head, I took a breath in a useless effort to calm down and turned back to the freshman. I apparently scared them shitless with my outburst because they took a few steps back, their eyes were wide as saucers. They probably thought that I'd lost my damn mind. And they may be right.
I blew out a other breath, and tried to channel what my cousin would do in this situation.
"Look, I'm sorry I yelled. But that is in no way true. Every time you entertain an idea like that or tell others about it, you are contributing to the problem. Ninety-nine percent of the rumors you will hear in this damn school are false. Don't be part of it, ignore it if it has nothing to do with you. Because you could be on the wrong end of a rumor at any time here. Girls are ruthless, especially Bre and her posse." I advised.
They nodded their heads, retreating to class. Taylor tried to wrap me in a hug but it only made my eyes cloud with the tears that I could hold back. I needed to get out of here. I hoisted my backpack onto my shoulders.
"Ditch?" Taylor asked.
I nodded in agreement as the tears slid down my cheeks. I didn't even question why she would be willing to ditch and get in trouble.
Taylor pulled out her phone once we were out in the parking lot. "Meet us in the lot." She stated into her phone and unlocked her car door.
"Sam?" I asked, opening the passenger side.
"Yep, he's meeting us out here. After we get your clothes, will go to the store and stock up on ice cream and movies. You my friend are staying the night."
Sam sat in the back of Taylor's car. He tried to talk to me about what had happened, but I insisted that we wait until we had plenty of ice cream before I delve into the shit of a day it was.
To my relief, no one was home when I arrived at the Mathews'. I made it the guest room and packed a bag before going up to Axel's and grabbing my toothbrush. I shot a text to the warden letting them know that I was staying at Taylor's house for a few days.
