Axel

"Ryan! Baby, just hang on...please!"

I ran up the bleachers, my legs felt like dead weight. I wasn't moving fast enough and I was still an uncomfortable distance between us. I didn't take my eyes off her, causing me to trip a few times.

She was staring right through me. Her body started to waver, gray eyes glassed over and rolled in the back of her head.

My heart stopped. I charged the remaining gap, catching her  milliseconds before she hit her head on the empty bleacher behind her. Scooping her up, I held her close and carried her down the bleachers.

"Please be okay". I pleaded to anyone who was listening "Get the fuck out of my way!" I yelled at the other students who blocked my path, gawking. I rushed down trying to get my girlfriend help.

"I will kick your ass if you don't move!" I warned Josh, who  blocked the final step down.

He scurried to the side, knowing I would stay true to my word. I glanced at her limp form, her arms dangled from her body.

"What happened?" Quade rushed over.

"What do you think happened? She's fainted...out cold!" I snapped.

"Darlin'?" Mike crossed to my left, trying to talk to his unresponsive daughter.

"Mike..." was all I could get out of my mouth now.

I think he was waiting for me to hand her to him, but I was ignoring that need. There was no way in hell I was letting go of her.

"Get her to the damn nurse!" He yelled.

I hurried out of the gymnasium and into the hallway.

"Quade, what the hell was that in there?" He asked through gritted teeth, following in my wake.

"Someone stole her phone and put that up." Quade's voice trembled with anger.

"Well, I got that much! You know what I'm talking about! Don't you dare lie to me!" He yelled and grabbed his hair in frustration. "You need to tell me everything!" He pointed his finger in his son's face.

"You guys need to shut up the fuck up, worry about that shit after we get her checked out!" I hissed.

When this was over I would probably regret my outburst, right now I didn't care much. Mike fixed an icy glare on me before he opened the door to the nurse's office, stepping aside so I could go in.

"Give her some space, one of us will get you later." Her dad directed to our friends that were following.

He and Quade hung back to make sure they understood.

"What happened?" Ms. Perry, the nurse asked.

"She looked like she was having a panic attack before she passed out," I told her.

"Lay her down." She instructed, pointing to the pleather covered cot and pulling out an ancient blood pressure cuff from her desk.

She touched Ryan's clammy forehead with the back of her hand, then nodded to herself.

"She's freezing..." she commented before quickly wrapping the cuff around her arm.

"What does that mean?" My voice cracked.

"You need to step out."

"Over my dead body." I crossed my arms and planted my feet.

I wasn't going anywhere. Mike entered the room and put his hand on my shoulder.
