Hanna POV
"Clap your hands! Stomp your feet! Move to the groove of the Rosewood beat! Hit it!" We all shout and I stomp my feet and move my arm in a circle with my other hand on my hip and when I get to a full circle, I clap my hands again and I do it three times when Aria stops, "hold on. Hanna you got the arms wrong. It's the opposite arm and-" "it's not brain surgery Aria," I snap.
She frowns, "alright...what's with the attitude?"
"What's with your life? I mean seriously. Aren't you embarrassed that the most important thing in your life right now is a stupid cheer?"
I see that I hurt her but she walks over, her eyes completely worried. "Look, I'm really sorry that things with you and Emily didn't work out but don't go all Zayn on me okay?"
I scoff, "you think this is about Emily?!" I shake my head and stare at her, "you're not even close! Aria you're not even in the country of close!"
She looks at everyone watching nervously but then locks eyes with me, "then what's wrong?"
"Everything! How pointless all of this is," I say and she frowns, "stop saying that!"
Everyone in the gym turns around but I don't let them bother me. "No! Because it's true! What difference does it make if you sleep with a popular guy, or you go to the right party, or you know the moves to some retarded cheer to do with some lame ass game I couldn't care less about!" I throw my pom-poms down and storm out of the gym, not caring who's watching or how stunned I just left Aria.
CeCe POV
"Hey you're not supposed to be working today," Aunt Spencer says, confusedly as she looks up from a car. I nod, "I know I uh...I actually have a favor to ask." She chuckles, "oh no. You didn't murder anyone did you? There's only so many illegal things I can do for you Ce."
I blush and scratch the back of my neck, "no um...there's this father/son charity basketball game and well...Whitey says I gotta play so...you interested?" I perk an eyebrow up hopefully and she snaps her eyes to me, her interest peaked.
Her lips curl into a smile as she nods, "yeah."
"Yeah?" I ask, double checking and she grins wider, "yeah of course. I mean I am a little out of shape and you know...I wasn't worth shit back in high school unlike my brother Wayne."
I chuckle and shrug, "better for us then right? Well...why don't you start coming to the court with us?" She smiles, "I'd love to...so uh...this article about you, Emily and Wayne playing as a 'family'. How are you with that?"
I sigh, "honestly? I hate being connected to Emily and Wayne. It sucks but...what can I do about it?"
I hear someone run over and when I turn around, to my disappointment, I see Wayne.
"Hey big sister. I was just going for a run and I forgot my water. Want to help me out?"
Spencer nods, "yeah, sure." She goes to the back and returns with a water bottle. "So you wanna buy a ticket to the charity father/son game?"
Spencer smiles, "well I, uh, would if I wasn't playing in it. Ce invited me," she points to me and Wayne frowns, squinting at me and I just stare at him, emotionless.
"Oh great, well try not to soil the Fields family name while you're at it," Wayne says to Spencer who nods, "well that's everyday advice for you, isn't it?" She tosses Wayne the water and he ignores Spencer and turns to me, "hey kid. Seems like you have an obligation to our name too. Don't blow it."
I decide to finally speak so I shake my head, "that articles a lie. You're not my father and you sure as hell never were."
Wayne nods and looks at me seriously, "you're right. It is a lie. You should've never had the name in the first place." He turns and walks away as Spencer calls out to him, "HEY! WAYNE!"
I grunt and kick a toolbox angrily. "Don't let him get to your head Ce-" "I HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY TO HIM OR THE DAMNED NAME!" "I know. And you don't. CeCe you can't let him get to you."
I scoff and shake my head and grunt, "you know what? I don't plan on it. I think it's about time I get away from him completely," I say, smiling slightly.
"What do you mean?" Spencer asks and I smirk menacingly, "it means I'm not going to be a Fields anymore. I'm going to change my last name."
Next Day
Emily POV
"Aria!" I shout as I catch up with her and she sighs, "what Emily."
"Have you heard from Hanna?"
"Not since you two broke up and she went all psycho on me in practice, no. Why?" I sigh and look around, "because she hasn't been in school and she won't answer her phone."
"Well, maybe she's out kicking puppies." Aria rolls her eyes and walks away from me, leaving me groaning. I turn around and walk to the tutor center, stopping in the window when I see Alison sitting down, black framed glasses resting on the bridge of her nose.
I smile at her cuteness and feel a thumping in my chest. I frown when I touch my chest, not sure of why my heart is beating so fast. I knock on the door and Alison turns around and smiles, waving me in.
I open the door and she stands up, "hey."
I nod, "hi." I slump down in the chair and she raises an eyebrow, "you okay?"
"Great."
"Sure you are."
I sigh and shrug, "whatever. You ready to go?" She takes her bag off the table and throws it over her shoulder, "yeah. Let's go."
I lead her out of the school and towards my car. I drive us to my house and she gives me a practice test. After a few minutes of her grading it she looks at me, "good news is you did better. Bad news is that your better is a D." She holds up the paper and I shrug, "yeah I guess I didn't really give this one my best shot."
Alison puts the test down and stares at me, "okay...Emily, what's going on with you?"
I sigh, feeling like I should just tell her. "Well, you know me and Hanna broke up."
"Hanna and I," she says and I raise an eyebrow, "oh. She broke up with you too?" I sigh and shrug, "I just...I didn't know she'd take it so hard. She went off on Aria at practice...I'm worried about her."
"Well maybe you should've done more worrying when you were actually together."
I frown and pull my eyebrows close together, "what?"
"I'm sorry but it's true, even you gotta know that."
I scoff and stand up, "no. You don't know the first thing about Hanna and I."
"Me and Hanna," she whispers and I scoff, "whatever...you should probably go."
She looks up at me and I sigh, "sorry I just...I don't want to lash out at you...I know you had plans with CeCe tonight too...you should go."
She stands up and nods, "okay...see you tomorrow? Here, right?"
"Yeah. See ya." She smiles at me and leaves, my eyes following her until the door shuts.
