Our parents have this strange rule where Troy and I can't go in each other's room after midnight. They're the only parent's I know with that rule. Anyways, that meant we couldn't read the diary together. Troy told me he was tired anyway so I had first dibs on reading the diary first.

I got comfortable in my bed, turned on the light that I would probably KEEP on and began reading.

Hello Kitty,

As you can see I have given you a name. Kitty! I hope you like it. Dad brought me this diary for my 19th birthday. He thinks it will help with my depression. My sister agrees with him. We'll see. I don't really like writing. Anyways this new house is rad! First day here. Of course, I like it because black is my favorite color, but dad wants to paint it over next week. If mom was still alive; she'd keep it how it was. But Becky, ugh I can't believe she's my step-mom. Becky and my dad got married last week and she already wants to change EVERYTHING. Paint this that and throw this and that away. You know what I call her, Kitty? Bad Breath Becky. Seriously her breath smells like last year's pig feet. Makes me want to gag every time she's near me. I don't see how my dad is with her. She's constantly-

Sorry I stopped writing there, I heard noises coming from the attic and went to check it out. Nothing unordinary about a house in the middle of nowhere with noises coming from the attic in the black house. As I was saying she's-

Oh my God. Do you hear that Kitty? I swear I can hear someone crying. Like a little girl or something. Am I hearing things?

I have to go now; Bad Breath Becky is calling me. Bye Kitty!

That was the first page. I wonder if freaky stuff always happened here the first day. 2015 was only last year. What could have happened to her then? I would look her up now but the Wi-Fi was off. Another stupid rule made by my parents. No Wi-Fi after midnight.

It was 1 AM and I was pretty tired. It felt someone paste cement onto my eyelids. I put the diary on my dresser and drifted off to sleep.
