The gem was born of evil's fire. The gem shall be his portal. He comes to claim, he comes to sire. The end of all things mortal.

I am falling. My sight is gone. The wind has no sound, but it has a rough touch. Its contact is painful.

Robin. The others. Did my powers save them? I hope so. The only reason I went through with this was so that they would be safe. I hope Trigon ignores them long enough for them to win.

How am I able to think clearly? I fulfilled the prophecy. My existence has no meaning. Shouldn't I be dead? I thought I was walking into my death...why am I falling so far instead?

I need to meditate. That will help. I try to open my mouth, but I realize that is impossible. Am I in my spirit form, or is the wind too strong for me to open my mouth? I panic. This is not nearly meditation. However, I sense no immediate drawbacks to my release of emotion.

I revel in this newfound ability to feel again. All of the emotions come out at once, and tears stream down my face. They are tears of anger, sadness, frustration, joy, and worry.

Nothing explodes. No one yells in surprise.

I am free.

"Raven! No!"

I falter. Did I do something wrong? Why does Beast Boy sound so sad?

"Raven! Friend!" Starfire yells.

"It's gonna be okay, Rae. We'll get you out of here." I hear Cyborg say. I am no longer falling.

There are more voices, jumbled voices.

Then, all too clearly, I see my father's hand loom over me. As his hand closes around me, I have one will: no more. No more pain. No more serving my father. No more death. No more.

The hand retreats, then disappears.

"You did it, Rae. He's gone." Beast Boy says.

My eyes open, just barely. Cyborg is holding me up, and the little green imp is smiling at me. I cannot see Robin or Starfire. I must have said something, because Cyborg frowns and looks around.

"Robin? Robin, what are you doing?"

"Looking for Starfire." Robin says, worry lacing his voice. My vision begins to fade. Cy shakes me.

"Raven! Stay awake, girl. Come on, Drama Queen. Just stay awake."

Then, the heartbreaking cry: "STARFIRE!"
