3rd person POV
The Doctor woke up in a hospital bed with two machines monitoring his heart rates. He was confused, considering he had gone to sleep in his TARDIS holding Rose to his chest. A nurse walked in, and dropped her board.
"You're awake! This is extraordinary, indeed! The last Time Lord, awake and alive once more! Oh, the universe will rejoice tonight!" She then left the room, ignoring her fallen board. Another person walked in, but this time it was a man. It was a lizard man, an Argonian. He sat down in the chair next to the Doctor.
"Hello, Doctor. My name is Dr. Jesse, but you can just call me Jesse. I assume you have a lot of questions, so I'll let you ask away, and I will do my best to answer."
"Yeah, I do have a lot of questions, but the most important one is this. Where is my wife and children? Also, how did I get here, and how long have I been here?" The Doctor's head was bursting with questions, each question drowning out the voices of other questions. Jesse sighed.
"You've been here for around 20 years in a coma. We don't know what happened to you, but your ship landed here, you stumbled out, and fell to the ground. We took you to this room, and you've been here ever since. As for your wife and children, I don't think they ever existed. I'm sorry to say this, but I think you dreamed them up." After Jesse spoke these words, the Doctor's hearts clenched. He jumped up out of the bed, ripping the IV's out of his arms, causing them to bleed. He ignored all the doctors telling him to stop, and he found his TARDIS. He went inside and he left. The Doctor sank to the metal grating of the TARDIS floor, both hearts squeezing in pain. Tears ran down his face as he lay there, and he screamed out to the universe. His song emitted pain throughout the entire universe, and every being could feel his tortured soul calling out for the ones he had lost. The Doctor learned to live again, but we must remember that he was happy for a time, even if it was just a dream.
