After a week in the cell, I was told by Jackass #1 all my charges were dropped by none other than Queen Tatiana herself. Wow. Not expecting that.

I was escorted to a meeting by palace guardians, and once we got there Tatiana was sitting at the east side of a round table with a triumphant expression on her face. One look into her mind, and I already knew what she wanted me to do. I smiled back at her, trying to seem friendly.

"Hello Cecillia," she said formily. "It seems my gardians have took it upon themselves to lock you up for a crime that shouldn't have happened in the first place."

I smirked.

"Well, it seems you guardians aren't wrong in their ways. After all, the laws always put the common Moroi out as a weak, defenseless person who needs to be protected like a child from a gun."

Her smile widened from ear to ear, and her eyes sparkled in mischief. She told me to sit down, and I sat knowing what this meeting was about as soon as it began. She pushed a file toward me, listing the names of Moroi folk who wanted to be taught how to use their elemental magic.

"This is a list of Moroi folk who want to be taugh how to use their magic against Strigoi. If you are successful in training them, we won't be a weak and defenseless people anymore." She gave me the file, and nodded to me in acknowledgement. "I heard from Adrian what you could do. At first I didn't believe it, but when my guardians caught you, I then knew we had a fighting chance. In return for your services, I will give you a room in the palace, and you will be paid for your private sessions."

"So what is this?" I asked confidently. "Probation?"

She scoffed.

"Probation? No." She laughed. "I'm just asking a favor of an old family friend."

She waved her hand in dissmisal.

"Go on, now Cece. My guardians will take you to your room."

As soon as I was in my room, I decided to go to bed in order to talk to Adrian,

To say he'd been pissed would be an understatement. He was downright furious. He yelled at me for an hour straight, pressuring me how I got there, even trying to compel me to tell. I sat down, looking at my hands and taking my punishment like a good little girl. Once Adrian cooled down, I finally spoke.

"I'm sorry Adrian," I said sincerely. "I would tell you where I was, but I'm afraid you can get the same information from your aunt."

"What?!" He looked absolutely shell-shocked. I mentally took a picture of his face, memorising the way he raised his eyebrows and his forehead wrinkled in surpirse. He even looked godly while being hocked. "Are you in...the palace?"

"Yes."

Silence.

"I'm sorry." I said after a while, still looking at my hands. But when I looked up, Adrian was gone. I snapped out of the spirit dream immediately, feeling my heart sink at the truth.

I might lose my Adrian.
