Cece's POV
About a week after my date with Eddie, I found myself working out in the gym. I met a few other guardians, but most of them remained quiet as we worked out together. It was there that I saw him.
He walked into the gym with two other guardians following behind him. He looked genuinely pissed off, for what reason I already knew why. Some of the guardians stopped working out, and backed away from him, clearly thinking the same thing all those stupid Moroi did; he still had a piece of Strigoi left in him, and it would break out at any moment.
He was there, just working out like everyone else, and for a while I was watching him out of the corner of my eye. He was amazing, graceful, and I could tell he was going to be an amazing palace guardian one day.
I know, I know. You're probably thinking I walked up to him and said, "hey, don't I know you from somewhere?", but I didn't. I was too chicken to do that. I just watched him work out curiously, until he stopped. He looked at me curiously, closely, and then his eyes widened slightly, but not fully. He sighed, and went straight back to working out.
For an hour, he just worked out. He would steel glances at me when he thought I wasn't looking, and butterflies would rise in my stomach when he did. It wasn't the romanticc kind of butterflies I get with Adrian; it was the anxious kind, like when you get nervous or really excited.
For three hours we wroked out, until all of the other guardians left. When we were finally alone, Dimitri walked up to me. His face held confusion and seriousness.
"You're a Moroi," he stated, narrowing his eyes. "We don't usually see a lot of Moroi here; especially none like you."
"I know," I said, looking into his eyes. "I lived with humans for a long time. The only one who really knew I was a Moroi were the ones addicted to my bite, so... I kind of had no choice. It was either be in the sun, or be questioned, and we couldn't have that, now could we?"
He contemplated that for a moment, and sighed.
"What's your name?"
"Cece."
"You seem familiar," he stated, looking at me suspiciously. "I don't know why, but you seem familiar."
"Yeah, I get that a lot," I said, smirking at him. "Anyway, I have to go back home. It's getting kind of late, and if I'm going to get use to my new schedule, I have to start now."
I left, and he was left staring back at me the whole time. And that was how I met Dimitri Belikov for the first time; it was nothing extravagent, but hey? It's only the start of many, many more meetings to come.
