Adrian's POV

I can't believe she's actually here.

Cece is my best friend, and she never told me she was even planning on coming here. I had tried my best to keep her away from the Royal Court knowing she would only stir up commotion. She was the only living Vladimiar that hadn't gone crazy from Spirit madness, and the ones that were gifted with the other elements went crazy trying to nurse the others back to sanity.

And being she looked like a dhampir didn't help.

I ran my hand through my hair, frustrated. Why? Why for once can't I have someone or something to myself? Cece was the only person hardly anyone else knew about. But now since she's here...she'll be intermixed, and she'll meet others, and she'll fade away from me.

I sighed and took another swing from the bottle of Jack Daniels in my hand. I remembered the good times I had with Cece. Her laugh. Her smile. The way here hair sometimes got caught in the wind...

I snapped myself out of it instantly, feeling the Spirit darkness invade.

I can't think about her like that. She's my friend. I'm in love with Rose.

But Rose is in love with Belikov.

And Cece is an expert on Belikov.

Damn you, Belikov! Why do you always have to steal my woman?

The bottle in my hand was empty, so I through it at the ground. Turning, and heading back inside the bar I smiled knowing that as soon as I got drunk again it will make all the pain and confusion of my love life go away.
