Adrian hasn't talked to me for two days.

My heart grew heavy with every step I took, and changing my schedule to fit the vampire schedule was starting to take its toll on me. The worst part was, whenever I saw Adrian I could literally feel my heart breaking with all the times he spent in the underground palace clubs, partying, drinking, and smoking - he was so easily destroying himself. If it wasn't for his strong Moroi genes, he would have already died from liver and lung cancer.

I picked up my black-leather bound journal as I felt the spirit darkness starting to invade. I closed my eyes, calling to the madness. For a moment I felt emotions nearly overwhelm me - anger, sadness, betrayel, heartbreak - all forcing themselves into my system and making my head and my heart ache. I started feeling lightheaded, and had to force myself not to let it take me.

After a long, suffocating second the darkness was seeping out of my pores and to the tips of my fingers. I gasped as I looked at the sickly smooth little black ball of spirit darkness in my hand, and with the other, I started writing down my new discovery.

Chapter Eleven Section Six

Spirit Darkness -

Not a lot is known about spirit darkness, other than that it drives their users mad. For those who are specialized in spirit, they may know this darkness and see it as a thing they must keep contained.

I stopped, and threw the dark ball of spirit at a lampshade nearby. I watched in amazement as the darkness enveloped the lamp, consuming it until it was nothing, and dissapearing afterward with a loud gush of wind.

I gulped and continued.

But what they do not know is that the darkness is actually a valueable weapon. The darkness does not want to be contained. It wants to be called and it wants to consume every non-living wrong soul that does not belong on this earth. The darkness is not a burden - it is a weapon.

I closed the book and smiled. Now I knew why we spirit users were so connected with the spirit world in the first place. Now I knew our importance.

Right the wrong souls. Save those who are meant to go on. Destroy those that are not.

The queen set me up with my first ever trainee. I was honestly very excited to teach what I knew to whoever this person was under my little guardian facade. A girl with a strong cheekbones, short cropped blond hair, and sharp blue eyes walked in and she looked at me expectantly.

"Hello," I started. "I am guardian Franchesca and I will be teaching you the benefits of being an earth user and how to use it against the Strigoi."

She nodded.

"May I ask your name?"

"Lia Ozera."

Hmm. Royal. This ought to be fun.

"Okay. Now we can get started.

"You may think not being a fire user when battling a Strigoi means you're defenseless and weak when it comes to surviving the attack, and the only way you can survive is to have guardians. You're sadly mistaken. All the elements serve a purpose in taking out a Strigoi because being a Strigoi mean you are the opposite of life. Other than Spirit, the element most connected to life is Earth.

"Strigoi may have strength and compulsion, but you have life. If you learn how to channel that life, you'll be able to defeat them in seconds. I'm going to teach you all the basics in defeating a Strigoi with you're element, and without you're element, but I warn you now that I train hard and I accept no excuses besides anything that has to do with a dying family member or illness, got it?"

She nodded hesitantly, and for a moment I saw a flash of doubt in her eyes, but it quickly dissapeared and was replaced by a look of determination. I smiled and lead her outside into a garden. We were surrounded by trees and flowers and grass and earth, that she stopped cold and it quickly overwhelmed her.

"You see the beauty of life here?" I said, taking in everything. "Now we learn how to use it offensivly..."
