"Renae, just what did you write on this other piece of paper?"
He stood in front of her grave.
"Its been ten years now. Ten years have passed by after you died. I am here, I listened to you and kept living for another ten years without you.""Life hasn't been kind to me ever since you left. Why would you leave me suddenly like that? I'm all alone now. Such unfairness. Now I understand what unfairness you were talking about all those years. You suffered too much since a very young and fragile age. I don't know how I could have lived had I been you. You were a brave young girl who turned into an independent lady, but a very sad one."
"I don't blame you for your dead. I blame myself."
"I brought a lighter so that I could decode your message for me in front of you. I've been wondering what you could have written that I had to wait for another ten long years."
"Ten long years? Ten long years without you huh? Were you trying to get back to me by making me live alone in this world because I shut you off for ten long years in the past?"
"If that's the case, just wait there for me."
He took out the lighter from his pocket and while he sat beside her grave, lit it.
As the fire burnt from beneath the paper. The message slowly decoded.
As soon as Marcus saw what was written, he couldn't stop his tears. He was in pain, he was hurt not because of Renae but because he felt like he was the most selfish being on Earth.
It read, " I always thought of writing a book for you so the last book I wrote was for you. I've written it down on Wattpad, since I didn't want people to buy you. You weren't someone to be sold, I wanted to gift you to the people. I hope you find it and read it someday."Marcus was down on his knees, desperately trying to calm himself but in vain.
"Renae! Renae!" He shouted.
"Forgive me for who I am and who I was. I can't read your book for me, I don't deserve it. I'm sorry I can't keep that promise." He yelled.
