Chapter 1

I got up early and walked downstairs, glancing at the clock in the kitchen. It said it was 4:00 am. What the heck?! Why was I up this early? I sighed and made myself a bagel sandwich. I guess I could find something to do for the next… four hours.

I sat down at in front of our living room TV and slowly ate my bagel. I could see my reflection in the window next to the TV, and I looked at myself. I had bright green eyes, much unlike my mother's misty blue eyes. My skin was a deep brown all year round, the complete opposite of the rest of my family. Besides that, my beach blonde hair stood out and looked like white in all of our family pictures. I just wanted to be normal, and belong. Josh and my father treated me like dirt and mom was the only one who truly loved appreciated me. I just felt that that wasn't enough. I had no home. I could walk away from this house and never return, without a single problem. But would I? No, I couldn't hurt mom like that. Not yet, at least.

I swayed gently to the music playing from the radio in the kitchen. It was jazz, I think. Not much like other music, more calming and sweet. It calmed me down, especially because I have been mad constantly recently. It was weird. I always heated up fast, and was always on the edge of beating up Josh, my older brother. He was such a pain in the butt, and at 27 he still lived in the same house as us. I continued to tell mom to kick him out, to divorce dad, and move on. But there was something about them that kept them here, and it wasn’t love. In fact, my dad abused my mom. I could hear it at night. The sounds…. It was quiet, but I could still hear it, and it haunted me. Josh has hit me before, too. I want revenge on them. I tried to calm myself down by listening to the music again, but it didn’t work. I got up and paced around the living room, stopping occasionally to peer at my reflection in the window. I looked perfect, and this only made me madder. Every hit I have ever taken doesn’t appear on my complexion, only on the inside. It annoyed me. I wanted everyone to know how strong I am… how good I am… But that wasn’t going to happen.

There was a knock at the door, and I silently walked over. Mom wouldn’t approve of me answering the door, but I was doing it anyways. Outside stood twins. A boy, and a girl. Both had flaming red hair and dark green eyes. Their skin was fairly pale, but it shined like it was under the sun. They smiled at me, showing their perfect white teeth.

“Who are you?” I said, stepping outside and closing the door behind me.

“I’m Forte,” the taller one said, the guy, “And this is Fawn. We’re twins.” They smiled again, and the shorter one, Fawn, the girl, grabbed my arm.

“ You have been accepted to a boarding school in Hawaii. It’s called Acrylic, and it’s secluded. We’re here to pick you up.” They stepped aside and I say a dark black limo waiting for me, a man sitting in the front. He smiled slightly, and I backed up against the door.

“I didn’t know about this.” I said squeaked.

“You weren’t supposed to.” Fawn said, “You must come now. Go put on a fresh pair of clothes and pack a quick bag. We have to leave in ten minutes. You can buy all new clothes when we get there.”

They ushered me inside and I lead them to my room. I pull out a suitcase and my favorite Vera Bradley bag, quietly instructing them of what to put in each bag and where. I was bringing my laptop, my phone, a few sets of clothes for each season, accessories, a few more purses, my favorite sweatshirts, Uggs, flats, and the blanket and pillow my Grandmother made me. Her name is Ashton, but I’ve only every seen her once, when I was born, and I can’t remember her. The gifts she sends me each year are glamorous though.

Once everything is loaded into the limo we get in and the driver pulls out of the driveway and onto the road, gaining speed as we hit the highway. Once we were at the airport we made our way to the terminal and soon got on the plane and were headed to Hawaii.

The other passengers were loud and fairly excited, but Fawn, Forte and I were quiet, hardly speaking. I tried to ask them about the school, but they said it would all make sense when I get there. It was really beginning to annoy me. But somehow, I was kept calm, and soon I fell asleep again. We had been in the plane for almost four hours, and it was about time I took a nap.

So there's chapter one! What do you guys think? Forte is on the side (: I couldn't find two twins, so I had to settle on the fact that they do look different. It's your imagination anyways!
