I was always grateful when Harry said we could rest. It's been about three weeks since we left my Sector, and the strenuous activity have left me extremely tired of our routine.
Let me say it again- three weeks of traveling, and about six hours of walking each day.
Of course I would be very happy during resting time. I found a slightly less jagged rock and used my bag as a pillow, it was already starting to get chilly.
My teeth started chattering, I shivered naturally by body trying to keep its temperature up. Out of my peripheral vision I could see Harry heading straight towards me, unphased my the weather.
"I can't sleep with all that noise." Harry groaned.
"S-sorry." I managed to say hugging my body tighter.
"Come here." he said.
I walked up and over towards him, my lips pressing into a faint smile. He sat me on his lap and I wrapped arms around him. I sighed in relief he was so warm, like a heater. My chattering died down till there was silence once again.
"You know," he began slowly. "It wasn't your teeth that kept me up, I just don't sleep well." he explained.
Never being able to get a good sleep, that's a real tragedy, "well that sucks."
"I guess, you should go to bed." he said wrapping his arm around my body.
I put my head on his chest. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel cozy and safe in his arms, "Promise you won't leave me, and that you'll always be there to protect me." I said growing more tired.
"Clayton will protect you." He said slowly, drawing a sigh from his lips.
"...yes but I want you." I whispered.
I watched as he fought to keep his smile back, I knew he wanted to. He looked down, shaking my shoulders gently getting my attention, "Can I show you something?"
I nodded my head and he held out his hands, naturally I placed mine on against his, "Now close your eyes and open them when I instruct." He explained slowly.
I nodded closing closing my eyes.
"Open them." He demanded.
When I opened them, everything was better and grander than before. The smells, sights, sounds. Everything was a thousand times more detailed and fulfilling.
I craned my neck, my eyes narrowing in at the bark of the trees, the dark veins of the cracked surface popping out. I turned to Harry whose eyes were a cloudy silver, like a film had been placed over his eyes.
How strange?
My ears zoned in and I could hear things like the rapid heartbeat of a young doe nearly a hundred meters away.
"This is extraordinary." I praised, my lips tugging up impressed at the detail he was blessed with. The gift.
"This is what I see. This is how my eyes work, it's incredible." Harry said lightly.
I could see all the colors, when I focused even more intently I could see the temperature of the warm fleshed animals in red, orange, and yellow. The blue and greens of nature, like a thermometer. The different levels, fading in and out was all so thrilling and intense.
"I could show you a memory of mine, usually I can show people their memories but I have a feeling it wouldn't work well on you." He began.
"Please do." I asked excitedly pulling gently at his shirt.
