"You're such a weirdo." I teased.
Harry pulled me into his lap sending me into a fit of laughter as he tickled my sides. "Shhh gnat, some people like peace and quiet ya know." he scolded playfully.
"Oh that's not even fair man, you started it." I pointed out.
"Yes, and I'm ending it maturely." he teased back, scrunching his nose.
I stuck my tongue out.
"Fine, this isn't over." I grumbled.
He shook his head resting his chin in the crook of my neck. I hummed lightly resting my head against his chest, "it is over though, sorry to tell you love."
Well he was wrong about that one. I took a marker from my back pocket and started drawing simple patterns on my legs to ease my boredom.
After traveling across half the country harry and I are almost to safety. Right now were stationed in an abandoned rec center, in two days we'll get on a boat that's gonna take us to this "paradise" harry's been talking about in Canada.
I looked around at the various people of all ethnics, ages, and gender. There was easily over a hundred people cramming into the space. I smiled when I saw an older woman trying to settle her two children who were running around. There was an older man, who I knew to be Phil that challenged one person a day at chess- he was exceptionally good. He's beaten me six times.
Harry placed his hand over mine and as soon as my eyes met his I fell into another one of his memories.
He was noticeably older in this flashback memory, looking to be about sixteen or maybe seventeen. His curls bouncy and reaching past his ears. His figure boyish. Harry sat alone in a chair with wires connected to his temples.
"Okay Zero, how are you feeling today?" said a dull voice over the com.
He gave an irritated laugh, his forest green eyes rolling, "How am I feeling? It's not like you give a shit."
"Zero." The voice spat, angered by the remark.
"Just tell me what you want me to do so I can and get back to my room as soon as possible." Harry snapped.
"There are two women in the room next door, A and B. We've set up so basic questions and a intercom so the two women and you can hear me at the same time. Myself and two other members today would like you to read their minds and try to distinguish which one is saying what. Can you do that for us Zero?"
Harry nodded slowly.
"Alright question one what is your favorite color?"
"A is blue, and, red is the favorite color of B." Harry said looking bored.
"favorite memory?" The man said.
Harry's eyebrows furrowed, " B's favorite memory is going to the beach with her younger sister, two years ago. That was the last vacation they had, she died of a terminal illness six months later. B blames herself, she's been suicidal. Her doctors think she's doing better but she's not, she's worse, she-"
