Present
It’s been two years since the attack and neither one of us has recovered fully. Serena has nightmares and I hallucinate. Since that night we are two wolves without a pack. We travel around to different packs to find an alpha that can help us with the Dark Shadows but they refuse.
As we arrive at our next spot Serena refuses to come with me to see the pack. She still believes her father is out there somewhere and she refuses to join another pack. She secretly hopes to find her mate while I hope it never happens. I don’t need someone to tie me down and take up all my thoughts of them.
When we pull up to the pack house Serena bolts out and threatens to go into her wolf. I jump out and look at her with my wolf eyes, “You are not going anywhere. You need to be here.”
Serena looks into my eyes which changed to black which means I’m pissed, “Whatever.”
A wolf’s eyes can tell a fellow wolf everything. Mine turns from light blue to black when I’m angry, glowing blue when I get turned on and dark purple when I get sad.
I bang against the big iron door and was greeted by a man who is probably in his fifties, “Hello. You must be Ava Kingston and Serena Johnson. Nice to meet you both.”
I smile, “Like wise. And you are?”
“I’m George Knight and I’m the alpha of the pack. I hear you have business to discuss with our pack. Please come in.”
Serena and I entered and George escorts us to a large living room where the rest of the pack is. I scan the room and immediately catch the eye of a guy who looks to be about a few years older than me. His blue eyes pierce mine in an instant and a shiver of desire shoot through me. His face looked shocked same as mine probably did as he realized what I just did…he’s my mate. Oh hell no! There is no way he’s my mate, I’m not ready for a mate.
His eyes are the nicest pair of blue yes I’ve ever seen. I feel like I’m being sucked into them. It felt like forever looking into his eyes and I don’t know how long I starred but it was impossible to look away.
