When we got back from shopping, I decided to go in the forest and fire off a few rounds from my gun. I didn’t want to go inside to face Xavier. I needed time away from him and to blow off some steam.

          I lay beer cans down on a stump and step back a few yards. I point my gun and started shooting. All of a sudden, I heard branches snapping behind me. I turn around, my gun in hand, and see nothing.

          As I turn back around ready to shoot another beer can, a hand grasped my wrist and held it up in the air. I look and see Dominic, another werewolf in the pack, and my eyes go wide.

          His eyes were glowing with lust as he pushes me up against a tree. I try to bring down my gun to point at him, but he knocked it out of my hand.

          I squirm under his hold and say, “Let me the fuck down!”

          He smirked up at me and pushed his body against me harder. He put his mouth close to my ear and whispered, “Not a chance.”

          Rage boiled inside me as I kicked him in the groin. His grasp on me loosened and I fell to the ground. I looked at him and said, “Don’t come near me again, or I’ll be forced to kill you.”

          “There’s only one problem with that sweetheart, I’m stronger than you.”

          Then he charged at me and I ran back to the pack house. My heart was pounding, and my pulse was quickening as I begged my wolf to come out. With my eyes turning black, I can feel the transformation happening.  As I turned into a wolf, I charged towards Dominic. But before I could attack, he transformed as well.

          Before I knew it he overpowered me and had me pinned. His mouth came close to my neck and a sudden rush of fear came over me as he wanted me as his mate. To hold him back, I bit down hard on his front leg. He growled at me and stepped on me harder.

          There was nothing else I could do, as his teeth grazed my fur. I felt his hot breath against my neck, as he was about to take me as his mate. Then suddenly, the pressure was lifted off me, as I see Xavier’s wolf fighting with Dom. I ran back to the house and that’s when Serena saw me.

          She ran out to the patio and said, “What the hell just happened?”

          I gave her a glare.

          “You’ll tell me later, I’ll just get clothes for you.”

          As she ran back in the house, I glanced back at Xavier. I felt pride in my mate, as he just saved my life. As Serena came back out, I changed to my human form again and she blocked anyone from seeing me as I changed. We walk in the house together and Serena goes beside Nash.

          Nash says, “Are you ok?”

          “I just don’t want to deal with it right now, I’m going to bed.”

          I head upstairs into Xavier’s bedroom and collapse on the bed. A few moments later, I hear the door crack open and someone steps in the room. I didn’t have the energy to look and see who it was, but I had a pretty good idea.

          “Ava, are you alright?” Xavier asks softly.

          I barely shook my head as I felt two strong arms pull me to his chest. His warmth engulfed me and for once I realized that I have feelings for Xavier.
