Chapter 20:Ava

       “What do you mean she was kidnapped? Weren’t you watching her?” I asked Josh.

          “I was in a pack meeting, you were the one that was here, so you tell me what happened.” He replied.

          “She went jogging after she rode you all night long.” I said.

           Xavier snickered and said, “I can’t wait until I get a chance to ride.”

          “Hey let’s talk about the issue on hand, no more sexual innuendos!” Josh yelled.

          “Whatever you say tiger,” Xavier winked.

          “Do you have any idea where she is?” I asked.

          “Her mind connection has been blocked and I have no way of knowing where she is.” He said sternly.

          “Let’s go outside and try to find her scent.” I replied.

          Walking outside, we caught a horrific scent from Dark Shadows.

          “I swear to God they smell like bad grandma farts mixed with cow shit.” Xavier said.

          “Good we have a lead.” Josh replied following it.

          Xavier and I followed for what seemed like miles. We stopped and Xavier said, “I got to take a whiz.”

          “That’s enough Xavier; I need to find my mate.” Josh replied.

          “Do you want me to get you some tampons?” Xavier asks smirking.

          “Oh my god, you are inevitable.” Josh says stalking off.

          “Way to go jackass,” I reply.

          “What did I do?”

          I slapped him on the arm and walked the direction Josh went.

          “Serena went that way.” He said pointing forwards.

          “Ok we know what direction she went, so let’s go get a car. I’m not walking for days just to find Serena,” Xavier mentioned fron behind us.

          “Plus it could be a faster way,” I pointed out.

          Josh kept looking forward to where Serena’s scent leads, “Okay, let’s go.”

          When we returned Kristie demanded she come with us as well. And since Dominic is her mate he came along also. We piled into the car and took off down the road to find Serena.

          Since Xavier is next to me he wraps an arm around my shoulder and pulled me close. I laid my head upon his shoulder and intertwined our fingers together. I sighed with bliss at this moment.

          “I just noticed this now but I think I smelt Nash’s scent along with Serena’s,” I say to Josh.

          He turned around in the passenger’s seat, fisted his hands, and yelled, “Son of a bitch!”

          “Nash, I swear to god, I’m going to rip his throat out,” Dom said clenching on the wheel.

          “Let’s not get hasty now,” Xavier says. “We need to find her first.”

          Suddenly Josh clenches his stomach and lets out a cry of pain. I wiggle out of Xavier’s hold and lean forward. I rubbed his arm to calm him but it didn’t work.

          “What’s happening?” Kristie yelled as she leans forward as well to see him.

          “Josh,” Dominic says as he takes turns looking at the road to Josh.

          Josh screams in pain once more before I feel Xavier’s hand on my shoulders pulling me back so Xavier could look at him, “Josh what the hell is going on?”

          Then Josh stopped and the car became quiet. Slowly Josh sat up right and took deep breaths before saying, “Serena’s hurt.”

          “How do you know?” Kristie asked hyperventilating.

          I put my arm on her back and rubbed up and down to try to calm her, “Calm down Kristie.”

          “I felt the pain. It was excruciating pain that hit my stomach,” Josh said. “When I shut my eyes I could see her. She was being stabbed.”

          The words I wanted to ask vanished. Serena was hurt and could possibly die at this point. I felt bad somehow, like I let her down in some way. I should’ve been there for her. I should’ve protected her. She has had her whole life filled with misery and pain and it continues. At this point I felt tears burn my eyes. I lower my head so no one could notice. Xavier of course did though. He pulled into him and let me cry into his chest.

          “It’ll be okay,” he cooed. “We’ll will get to her and bring her home before anything else could happen to her.”

          I didn’t respond as I was too busy crying my eyes out. I wasn’t the only one though because I could feel Josh’s sorrow but I didn’t know he was crying. Kristie’s soft sobs rand out beside me.

          “What if we’re too late?” I mumbled into Xavier’s shirt.

          “No! No we are not!” Josh yelled. “I will not lose her to anyone. Especially that asshole!”

          From that point on the car was filled with much needed silence.
