Chapter 28: Ava

When dawn approached we hastily made our way to the mansion. My stomach was a mess with fear as we approached from the back. Dom and Xavier went to the front and easily took out the guards there. Kristie and I were responsible for taking out the guards in the back. Kristie took one while I took the other. It was easy to do so which had me thinking about why is it so easy?

          Xavier made a sound from the front which told us it was clear to enter. I broke the knob in my hand and it crumbled to pieces. The door easily opened and we walked in. From the back it’s a clear view of the front door and I see Xavier and Dom come in as well. Xavier motioned for us to go to the right while they go to the left. Before Xavier left he waved at me like a five year old kid. I rolled my eyes and walked down the hall.

          The hall was decorated in portraits and dead animal heads. It grossed me out. When I took a closer look I noticed all the heads were heads of werewolves.

          “They killed werewolves and hang them on their walls. How sick is that?” Kristie whispered beside me.

          “I don’t think they just kill them. I think they eat them also.”

          Kristie covered her mouth to muffle a gagging sound, “Why? Why kill their own kind and eat them?”

          “So they don’t come back,” I reply. 

          Brushing it off, we kept walking. We had to find Serena and Josh before everyone woke up. Easier said than done. When we approached a couple of doors to our left we opened them carefully. One had nothing in it and same went for the other two. When we came across another door I opened it and fell into shock.

          “Mr. Johnson?” I asked as I slowly approached him. He looked haggard and pale. His bones were easily visible on his body. His hair has grown white and it fell to his shoulders. He also had a white beard and mustache.

          He slowly raised his head and when he saw me his eyes widened, he looked puzzled for a moment before saying, “Ava? Is that you?”

          “Yeah, it’s me.” I say as I approach him.

          “What are you doing here?”

          “Well right now I’m saving you but we are here to get Serena.”

          I held up his chained hands and easily broke the lock and chains. Kristie broke his feet lock and chains. I tried to help him up but he was dead weight.

          “I can’t get up. They’ve injected me with huge amounts of wolfs bane.” He said weakly.

          “Kristie help me.”

          We wrapped his arms around us and steadily helped him up. He groaned in pain as we slowly made our way to the door. “There are shots in the cabinet over there that will cancel out the wolfs bane,” Mr. Johnson informed us.

          Kristie does as he says as I hold him up. Once she out the liquid into the syringe she walked back over. She lifted his sleeve and slapped his arm so a vein could be visible. Once she could see the vein she jabs the needle into his arm and made the liquid do through his system. Since he’s an alpha it traveled fast and by the time we were walking again Mr. Johnson could walk himself.

          He showed us to where Serena was being held. The large door was bolted shut so it wasn’t easy to open as I would’ve thought. Mr. Johnson kicked it open and it shattered into pieces. Yes, for a slightly older guy he can still kick ass.

          “Ava, you help Josh. Kristie, you can help me.” Alpha Johnson instructed.

          When I got to the door of Josh’s cage I easily broke the lock. Josh opened his eyes slightly, “Ava? Why are you here?”

          “Are you kidding me? We’re here to save your asses!” I reached down for his hand and pull him up.

          Josh rushed out of the cage and went to Serena who was passed out. He picked her up bridal style and held her close. “She’s pregnant. We need to get her to the pack doctor.”

          “Wait, what?” I said. “She’s pregnant?”

          “Yes,” Josh replied.

          “Can we go now?” A younger kid who looked to be in his early teens asked.

          “Who is that?” I asked as I pointed to the kid.

          The kid folded his arms and cocked an eyebrow, “You can call me Liam sweet cheeks.”

          “Um,” I cut short because I had no clue on what to say.

          “Ava, that’s my brother,” Josh informed me.

          Okay, me being shocked was an understatement. “You’re brother? As in the one you thought was dead?”

          “Yeah, it was a shock to me too,” Josh replied.

          A bunch of commotion interruption our talk. I started to panic but hid it well, “Okay lets go.”

          As Josh holds Serena, Alpha Johnson helps Nash to his feet. Honestly, I would leave him here but whatever. We rush out and as we slowly walk down the hall I can’t help but notice Liam. He’s making googly eyes at me and I’m feeling a little awkward. Then I saw Josh kick him in his butt.

          “Kept your eyes ahead,” Josh warned him. Awe, a loyal Beta.

          Once we get to the back door everyone heads out but me. If it was this easy to get Serena something must be up. Then a queasy feeling erupted in my stomach.

          “You guys go,” I say.

          “What are you doing?” Josh asked.

          “I think Xavier is in trouble.”

          “Kristie,” Josh said. “Take Serena. I’m going with Ava.”

          Kristie gives Josh a look, “What do I tell her when she wakes up?”

          “Tell her I’m coming back but I had to help Ava. Come on take her,” Josh said grinding his teeth together.

          Kristie took Serena from Josh, “Come back breathing okay? Ava, make sure Dom comes back in one piece.”

          I nodded, “I promise.”
