"Aurelia?"

"Yes."

I froze where I was ruffling through my bag trying to find some insignificant decoration. Chip had a confused glint in his eye and when he looked up to me he waved me over with a hand. His voice was urgent, and I stood to get a better glance.

"Check this out for me."

Carefully, I stepped around Cas, who once more was sprawled out near Chip. It took me a moment to realize that oddly enough, the wounds had healed over, if a bit roughly. There was no way a human immune system could have healed such a wound so quickly. This was the work of an angel no doubt.

"What kind of sorcery is this?" I muttered.

"Well, I was hoping you could tell me."

"I have nothing."

My stomach turned as I furiously pushed the thought away. Raphael wouldn't dare. But miracles didn't exist and recklessness ran in an angel's blood. I couldn't possibly tell Chip that another angel of all things was getting involved. I couldn't risk the possibility of anything else falling out of place. Raphael had never been this daring before in the time I'd known him.

"This is good, right?" My voice cracked.

"It can only be."

Chip sighed and stretched tentatively, taking caution not to wake Cas.

"And since I have no confirmation yet that it is a bad thing, I will take it as a good thing."

Humans were odd. An angel would hardly have dared make that assumption, but then again, angels were an uptight and stubborn race. Humans knew what they wanted and weren't afraid to get it. They also had little fear of consequences.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. Calphys paid me a visit the other day."

"What went down?" Chip frowned.

"They wanted to know everything about me. It wasn't particularly threatening, by any means, but it was slightly worrying that they were trying so hard to get my attention."

"And what did you do?"

"I sassed the shit out of them. What do you think?"

"As one does," Cas interjected sleepily.

"Morning, Cassius."

I laughed as he rubbed one eye and sat up, yawning.

"What time is it?"

"Around eight o'clock. I'll probably open up soon, but I'm too lazy for now."

"Me too."

"Oh, come on, Chip." I snickered as Cas smacked his arm.

"Well, I mean I am."

"Not nearly as much as I am." I grinned.

"Whatever you say."

My smirk was cut off by a muted crash along the back wall of the clinic building. All three of us immediately looked at each other, suspicion surfacing in our eyes. I raised my eyebrows and almost sighed.

"Great. More people trying to kill me."

I was on my feet in no time, stepping quietly to the bathroom and peering out of the window toward the crash. What I saw couldn't possibly have been right, but my eyes weren't lying to me. Calphys stood backed against the building, staring grimly up at an enraged giraffe. There was no way on Earth this was real.

"What the hell?" I muttered.

"Holy shit."

Behind me, Chip echoed my surprise and confusion. We met eyes for a moment and ran to the back door together, with Cas following hesitantly behind. Both of us must have been thinking the same thing, for we both turned back to him at the same time.
