Chapter 17

Time jump the next early morning in NYC

   Tyler is really mad. His eyes are narrowed and his hands have a tight grip on the wheel. All they guys went back home except Ashley, Josh and of course Melanie. They are both asleep holding onto their light jackets as some sort of warmth. Josh looks over to Tyler. "Ty are you okay?" Josh says softly lowering the music. "Im fine" tyler responds agitated.

"No. You're not okay."

"Josh I'm just tired."

"Tyler you're not just pull over"

  Tyler pulls over on the side of the highway next to a patch of trees. Tyler gets out and walks into the woods part. Josh follows.

"Tyler whats going on?"

"Im tired."

"No because you wouldn't act like this. You would be more cuddly."

Tyler sits down on some fallen down tree. Tyler begins to put his hands on his face and sighs. Tyler tells Josh what happened except the police part.  Josh sits down next to him.

"Ty. Its okay. You dont have to get this mad. We are bringing her home now, right?"

"Yeah. But thats not the thing she lied to us."

"But Tyler we don't know what happened with her mom or why she left. But we have to make sure shes okay right now. You're overreacting a little."

"IM NOT OVERREACTING. THIS GIRL THIS RANDOM GIRL COULD GET US IN TROUB-" Tyler snaps but before he could finish his sentence he stopped before he told Josh. Josh stands back up and faces Tyler

"What Tyler? Trouble? What trouble Tyler? How would she?" Josh was now the one angry.

"Why do you have to keep asking me questions? I hate these questions. Why this? Why that? What? How? Blah blah blah." Tyler was back yelling.

"Tyl-" Josh sounded like a scared child

"You know what Josh. This. Us. This is too much. We have. We h-have to take a break." Tyler was looking down into his hands afraid to see Josh's face.

Josh doesn't talk. But he takes in a deep breath trying to hold back tears. "B-because I-i asked y-you questions?"

"see there you go again Josh" Tyler gets up and walks back to the car without care.

Josh falls down onto his knees and cries. And he cries hard. Like he just lost his whole world.  Tyler walked to the car and told Ashley to sit in the front seat replacing Josh's spot. She was too tired to notice Josh's absence. Josh continues to sit there and cry. Tyler got annoyed that Josh was still out there so he honked the horn. Josh got up out of the woods and sat in Ashley's old spot. He put on his belt and pulled out his phone putting jn his earbuds and playing Troye Sivan. Josh takes off his shoes and pulls his knees up to his chest facing Melanie. He continued to cry. He cried into his sleep.

Time jump Melanie's house

"Thanks guys for being there for me last night. And thanks Josh for saving me." Mel said to everyone hugging them.

"Stay safe kid" Ashley said hugging her tighter.

She waved them goodbye and got out of the car heading to her porch. The porch light came on and a lady came running outside. She hugged Melanie and started to cry. They started to walk towards the door when Melanie stopped turned back to them and mouthed 'thank you'

They started to drive off. Ashley turned off the music and shifted to loom at Tyler. "Now lets talk about you guys."

This one feels so short but eh.
