Staring from his window, he could see each of the individual clocks ticking away everyones' lives inside their consecutive buildings. Most of the people around him also carried a wrist-clock, as if one mortality-timer wasn't enough for them.
William laughed to himself momentarily, and then rolled up his sleeve to look at the 15 watches that he had acquired through various means; most of them from people who's time had run out.
His mothballed fingers threw closed the curtains, and with a grating sound emanating from his clogs, he turned to face the unfortunate person tied to his grandfather clock.
'Hello. Nice of you to join me. I feel truly sorry for you for the news of your fated demise that you have just received - though never mind, eh? Time waits for no man.'
The doctor bound to the clock thrashed around in his ropes in abject terror, and William just stood before him, laughing, and keeping his eyes trained on his watches. The time was 20:57.
Three minutes to go.
William took these minutes to say a little prayer to the spirit of his late daughter, and how he would make the men who did it pay. He then clutched a lever on the side of the chair that the doctor was strapped to - and then yanked the gag out of his prisoner's mouth.
Before flicking the switch; he hit a metronome in the backdrop of the soon-to-be crime scene - and relaxed into its ticking and tocking grasp.
'Any last words, doctor? Do you want to say goodbye to your kids at all...? Well, do say hello to mine!' William laughed, and as the clock struck 21:00, the doctor screamed in terror as the glass cabinet doors to the grandfather clock swung open, and his chair fell backwards into the space where the doors used to be.
The doctor closed his eyes. It was now 21:01. The pendulum swung backwards, and then forward. His breath was taken away literally as the foul bladed timepiece sliced his head clean off his shoulders.
'Vic?' Yelled William down the stairs of his darkened house, 'clean this up and show the doctor out!'
