Chapter 10:

"Where are you taking me, Gabby?" I asked, my voice stuttered as I tried to fight down the hysteria forming within the pit of my stomach.

My worried eyes wandered and took in the elegant and ultra-modern interior of the roomy limousine which abound in ivory, black and silver hues. The cushioned back seats within were made with expensive creamy ivory leather and they were unbelievably soft, almost like water. There was a huge 4K resolution flat screen LCD television and speakers mounted on the headliner— with a click of your remote you can simply flip them to the top with no trace that they even existed. WiFi was available and the windows were high-tech, literally like flat touchscreen computers —  you could check your emails, browse the internet and even make VOIP calls. At the right side of the wall between the driver and backseat was a posh-looking mini bar that housed various type of drinks and discreet yet sleek refrigerator. And, despite the modern look of the interior, the expensive Persian carpet and leathers somehow gave it a soft nuance.

Anywhere I looked inside, it literally spelled rich and luxurious. True, it was beautiful but I did not feel welcomed nor I could imagine myself getting used to this kind of luxury. Once again, the little peeve called insecurity started to bug me again.

"This is a custom-made Cadillac limo. All you see in this limo— its exterior and interior; its accessories and furnitures; the most minute of its details- are made based on how I like my car to look like. Not bragging but I can guarantee that there is nothing like mine nor will I allow the team of manufacturers who built my limo to reproduce this." Gabby informed me wryly while giving me a lazy sweep from her cool gray eyes. I notice that the light shadows casted on her cheek bones were actually from her long dark lashes. "There are pillows if you want to get comfortable..." She offered in a hospitable manner, gesturing her hand to the throw pillows snuggled beside me on the spacious back seat. "Do you want anything to drink?"

I gave her an angry glare when my alarmed mind finally settled down. "Don't deflect from my questions, Gabby— where are you taking me?"

Instead of finally answering my question, Gabby just gave me a mysterious smile coming off from her gorgeous lips. She then pushed something from the side of the back seat and, to my surprise, the part of where she was seated to, extended into a lounge. She stretched her long legs and released a contented sigh as she comfortably leaned into the soft cushion of the back seat.

My breath hitched when I looked at her— she was so close to me, with only a small throw pillow separating the two of us. I could feel the heavy weight of the tension hovering between the two of us; the palpable attraction; the lust being stoked...

My heart was fluttering at an unusual speed and my hands— they were shaking due to an inexplicable reason. But she made no move to bridge our distance nor did she look affected as much as I was. God, how could she be near but so far? Our distance and her apathy... They made me feel disappointed. They made me feel sad...

I mentally shook the unwanted feeling and opted to wait for Gabby's reply. But moments passed by, with the limousine constantly moving ahead at a farther distance from where we originally was, I still did not get any response from her. All I heard was the moderate sound coming from the show being aired on the television and, the gong-like thump of my heart.

"Gabby?" I asked tentatively, my voice low. Gabby remained unresponsive. I budged near to observe her. But the moment that I allowed my curious eyes to stroll over her fair blemish-free face, my entire body froze. God... She was really captivating even with her eyes closed— her perfectly-trimmed brows, straight and pointed aristocratic nose, pinkish cheeks akin to that of a healthy baby and, my favorite, her plump soft lips that reminded me of sweet red cherries topped on my favorite ice cream dessert... I shook my head from the salacious haze that surrounded my mind.
