MARRY ME: 'My Memory V'

'What is this place?' Isabelle breathed in awe the moment Gabby uncovered her eyes. She was dressed in a comfortable light yellow summer dress while the latter was wearing a pink feminine loose shirt with long sleeves and mid-rise white shorts, showing off her long smooth legs.

Isabelle took in the surroundings around her and was astounded by what she saw. The vast blue sky stretched across infinitely and gently splattered with diaphanous clouds ― almost like a cotton candy sold during the lively summer carnivals ― while the sun appeared to be tamed; its ray of sun light was shyly touching the vast green fields. At the side were tall trees, they were planted in such a way that their branches canopied the paved roads as if they were entrances leading to an enchanted dimension. The place was practically a garden enclosed within a forest.

Wherever her eyes landed, bountiful flowers of various kinds and colors abound ― tulips, roses but what made this place utterly breath-taking were the sunflower plantation. Their flowers looking up the sky like audience to the sun's magical orchestra.

Gabby looked at Isabelle and her heart was filled with joy at the latter's reaction. She was not a romantic person nor it was her nature to bend over backwards to please someone else other than her father but Isabelle ― the love of her life ― was different. She made her do extraordinary things just so she can put the simplest gesture of a smile in her lips.

'Stay right here, I won't take a moment,' Gabby told Isabelle and immediately ran to the direction of the sunflower fields. She looked around and searched for the prettiest sunflower. When she finally spotted the one, she gently plucked it and, returned to Isabelle who was smiling and waiting patiently in her wheel chair.

'Remember when you tell me that the sunflower is your favorite so about two months ago, I asked my father to give me this idle piece of land so I can have it transformed into the most beautiful garden that you will ever see. I know it will take some time for sunflowers to grow but we ship them from Mexico and Europe; and I've hired the best horticulturists and landscape artists to cultivate them along with all these flowers. So here it is ― our garden.' Gabby gave the sunflower to Isabelle and knelt down so their faces would be at level with each other. She stared at the latter and earnestly said, 'I love you, Isabelle, and I will do anything to prove it to you and make you the happiest person for the rest of our lives if you let me.'

Isabelle was touched by Gabby's proclamation of love that tears began to well in her eyes. Gabby frowned worriedly at Isabelle's reaction and caressed the tears away from her mesmerizing brown eyes. 'Is there something wrong? Have I said something that has offended you, Belle?'

'No,' Isabelle quickly shook her head. 'No, no, I'm not crying because you've said something that offends me but I'm crying because you made me so happy that I can barely contain it.'

Gabby smiled widely at what she heard.

'And I love you, Gabby. I love you very much.'

Gabby gently touched her beloved's cheeks. Though they were nary of color, it did not make her anything less than beautiful. She leaned Isabelle down to her for a kiss.

The kiss they shared was gentle but, undoubtedly, it was filled with love. It was not a hurried one but something that was slow, careful as if time and fate were just within the palm of their hands. It was a kiss laced with the promise of forever.

When the kiss ended, Gabby took a box from her pocket and opened it. Isabelle gasped at what was being held in front of her eyes.

'What's that ring for?'

Gabby nervously swallowed the lump in her throat but she had thoroughly thought of this from the time she saw Isabelle lying weakly in the hospital bed. If she wanted to be with Isabelle, then she should never waste a single minute of their precious time.
