ANNOYANCE

“The scariest thing about distance is that you don’t know whether they’ll miss you or forget you.”

       ― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

I want to scream and tear my hair out. I am not in the mood to deal with Cameron Matthews today, at all.

"Hello and good afternoon class!" The teacher says as she walks into the classroom. "For those of you who don't know, my name is Ms. Greene and I will be your Family Studies teacher. Today we will be working on Healthy Relationships. I want you to work with your desk partner to describe some Healthy Relationships." Signalling that she is done talking, Ms. Greene nods and walks to the front of the classroom to sit at her desk.

"Well what do you say, partner?" I slowly let my eyes move to the side and I glance next to me to find Cam with a huge smirk on his face. I can't believe him.

"I'd rather not, but I guess we have to." I reply bitterly, taking out a pen and a piece of paper. "What do you think a healthy relationship is?" I ask with boredom in my voice.

Smirking, he looks away surveying the class and then turns back to me "Sex." He whispers seductively.

I drop my pen and look at him with disbelief. "Why are you pushing my buttons?" I ask.

"Why don't you like me?" He retorts, raising an eyebrow.

"To be honest, you remind me of someone I used to know, or thought I knew. You're arrogant and extremely self absorbed." I reply, laying it on him thick.

Cam leans towards me a little more and I roll my eyes. "So you're basing me off of another person?"

"Yeah." I reply, moving away from him.

Cam is silent for a moment but then speaks up. "Fair enough." He smirks, flipping his feet up on the desk and leaning back in his chair. Fine, I guess I'll do this myself. I turn back to my work and jot a few things down as Cam continues to annoy me. He pokes and laughs at me and I try my hardest not to slap him.

When the bell signalling class finally rings, I spring up from my seat beside Cam and bolt out of there in seconds. Heading down the long hallway to my locker, I hardly pay attention to my surroundings. That's when I shove past someone, knocking them backwards where they fall to the ground. Stopping and realizing what I've done, I turn around.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching what I was doing!" I rush out, pulling the boy up.

"No, that's okay; you're in a hurry I get it-wait Natalia?" Furrowing my eyebrows, I look up from helping him pick up his books and study the boys face. He looks familiar and I can't for the life of me put my finger on it.

"Yes?" I ask warily, looking at the boy and noticing that he's got dark hair with chocolate brown eyes, and a chiseled face with a wide jaw. He's short too, but not too short, with lots of build to him.

"Hey, I don't know if you remember me, but I was there the night of your party. Kaleb. " He introduces himself, offering me his hand. Looking at it feeling a bit nauseous as the memories of that night come back, I take it in mine and shake it.

"Well it was nice meeting you, but I've got to get to my last class." I mumble, backing away from him and pointing behind me awkwardly. Kaleb nods and I turn around, rushing around the corner to my locker.
