Chapter 4 •Evie’s POV•

I watched as the guy who had bumped into me left. I stood there stunned, how could he just walk away like that? He had managed to spill the can of sprite I was holding right onto my dress. I sighed deeply; at least it was clear like water, now if only it wasn’t sticky like water.

It wasn’t even my sprite too; Becca was going to kill me. I was going to have to write out a huge letter saying sorry for spilling the sprite!

“Was that a guy!?” A voice yelled from behind me making me jump and causing the remaining bit of sprit left in the can to spill over leaving the can now empty.

I turned around slowly before cringing away; it was my best friend Rebecca Lewis. She may be all sweet and nice to you but that’s before you get to know her. I have known the girl since the third grade; she wasn’t an angel all the time.

Rebecca glanced at the can of sprite before she scowled “What happened to my drink Evie!? Did I not tell you to hold onto it for me while I went to the bathroom?” She placed a hand on her hip as she waited for my explanation.

I chuckled nervously “Ha, ha, well you see here um that guy you just pointed out bumped into me. He was about to just walk away like some jerk but I knew you wouldn’t like it if I just let the culprit go so I tried to scold him and stall him until you came.” I looked down faking sadness “It seems he left before you had the chance to yell at him.”

Rebecca’s jaw dropped open “Wow, are you that clueless? Do you have any idea who that was?”

I shook my head, frowning slightly. I always hated being the last one to know things “Who is he?”

She huffed out in annoyance “Jeez Evie I’m shocked you don’t know. You know how you’ve been obsessed with that art scholarship you got?”

I nodded my head “Mr. Williams is a hardass.”

Rebecca smacked her hand against her forehead “It’s just like you to forget. That guy is in your class, you told me how much you admired his art.”

“Huh?”

Rebecca thumped me on the forehead while I scowled “Oww, what was that for?”

She sighed “Does the name Gabriel Quinn ring a bell?”

And suddenly the realization hit me, that was the Gabriel Quinn! I had been fawning over his art work ever since class with Mr. Williams started. I was so jealous of the way he could express himself so effortlessly in his work.

Obviously I could do that, since I made it into the art program but whenever we are meant to do an art piece that expresses ourselves I always seem to draw a blank until the very last minute. It’s not that my life is boring, in fact it’s anything but, I just haven’t developed the ability to express myself so easily.

I admire that Gabriel can do it so effortlessly.

“You know he’s you cousin’s roommate right?” Rebecca murmured breaking me from my thoughts.

“What!?” I gasped “Jason’s roommates with Gabriel!”

Rebecca smacked her hand against her forehead once again as she glared at me “Hellooo! Where have you been? Jason told you he was going to introduce us to his roommates tonight.”

I shrugged “He never mentioned names.”

“Yes he did!” She insisted “You know I’ve now just realized your there physically but never mentally.”
