Chad gently kissed Alyssa. "I'm so sorry. So sorry. I love you." Alyssa shuddered, and he held her closer. He stroked her hair as she sobbed into his chest. What was he supposed to do?
"Chad... I-" Whatever Alyssa was going to say was cut off by a crackling sound.
"1 week left. Good luck." Chad glared at the walls, as if that could send his death message to the scientist.
Alyssa looked up at him, eyes vacant. She licked her lips, "Chad, I...." she started coughing, and he stroked her face. He gently laid her head on his knees; she was so cold. Ice cold.
She tried to start again, but all that came out was a cough. Chad looked at her, then at the walls.
He stood up, and started shouting, "Hey, she's sick! She needs help! If you want your freak experiment to actually work, one of us dying won't help with that!"
Silence. Nothing but silence for the longest time. And then a crackle. "Hurry." Hurry?! What the heck's that supposed to mean? Chad thought indignantly. He knelt down by Alyssa, and looked her over. She didn't look well. Hurry... Just when things couldn't get any harder....
At least that's what he thought. And then the wall moved, and an unholy scream started. Alyssa's scream.
