Looking to the firmament, trenchcoat fluttering
Gaze up his past home, the clouds where he fell
Greeting into Earth, harsh thunder and lightning
Made his first entrance to save another from hell
.
Those fragile eyes coloured deepest sapphire blue
Showing an icy stare that's quite frigid, crystal cold
But think otherwise, for appearances can be untrue
And this blue-eyed angel inside is fiery, loyal, bold
.
With an internal fire burning so inextinguishable
A naturally rebellious heart and a warmest soul
An Angel of the Lord, though he's that no longer
Come what may, eye of the storm, ardent power
.
He buried his sword down and gave up the fight
Changed into another side, onto what was right
He lost the light in his halo, broke his dark wings
He lost his mojo, got built and rebuilt over again
.
A true source of hope, his intentions clear and tight
A saviour, protector, clever, an angel of many names
Life of chess, in this checkerboard of black and white
He already knows how to play and win the long game
.
But even the purest angels can succumb to the wrong
Tuning their tainted hearts into the much darker song
And in the end, even soldiers in a battle will fade away
Every candle in the wind will flicker and snuff to grey
.
A spirit for his spirit, replaying his most luminous memory
For he's a valiant hero, this angel will always remain to me
Through the pain and all the anguish, he has held the torch
Carried on with his purpose, rekindled soul ignited to scorch
.
The blue-eyed angel has always been their lucky star, incandescent light
The heavenly entity the brothers call to for help and pray to every night
For as long as they have the fullest unfaltering faith at Castiel held within
Sam and Dean know that they will always have a good angel to believe in.
