"Oh." Dean says behind me. I turn around and see a sad look on his eyes. I get a knot on my throat and rush out of the club.
I feel the tears building up in my eyes. How could've I been so stupid to think I was going to get a chance with Randy?
He was literally devouring Sasha in kisses. It's so obvious she likes him and he likes her. How did I not see it earlier?
"Slow down you look like a baby dear walking for the first time." I turn around and see Dean behind me. "What do you want?" I ask as I wipe my tears with the back of my hand.
"Hey, it was a joke no need to cry little button." He says and I scoff, "Your opinion is irrelevant to me. I'm not crying because of your insults."
"Then why?" He asks. I take off Paige's heels and start walking down the street barefooted. "Why do you care? Mind your own business and stop following me." I say as I continue to walk down the dark alley.
"I didn't even want to know and I'm not letting you walk down a dark alley by yourself. Do you want to get murdered?"
"Look Dean, you don't like me and I don't like you. So why don't you just leave?" I'm starting to get annoyed and it's not even towards him I'm just annoyed at myself.
I'm annoyed because I can't stop thinking about Randy. I'm annoyed because I can't get Randy. I'm annoyed because I'm not good enough for Randy.
"Because I'm suppose to be your dance partner or whatever. If something happens to you who gets blamed? Me. So don't feel flattered because I most certainly do not want to follow you."
I hear him take something out is his pocket and I finally take a seat outside of an abandoned building.
He sits down beside me and I see him out a cigarette on his mouth. "That's disgusting. It's cancer on a stick." I say as I scrunch my nose up.
"I know." He replies. "Then why're you doing it?" I ask and he takes it out of his mouth. "They're not mine. They're a friends I'm holding them for him. I just wanted to know what it feels like. If you don't light it up then it won't do no harm. It's a metaphor."
I look at up as my heart starts racing. "A metaphor? That's from the Fault in Our Stars! Do you read?"
He chuckles, "Um no. I just saw it on this Netflix movie I saw while I was bored." I feel disappointment. Of course a guy like Dean wouldn't read.
I mean he walks around with his noisy boots and leather jackets. "That is the Fault in Our Stars dummy." I reply as I lay my head against the building.
"Oh well excuse me nerd." He says as he throws the unlit cigarette on the ground. "I bet if Randy smoked you wouldn't think of it as disgusting." He says as he looks up.
"What?" I ask as I get nervous. Just hearing Randy's name makes me nervous. "You heard me."
"Why would you say that?" I ask knowing exactly why. "It's obvious your crazy over Randy."
"That's not true." Even though I try to sound convincing it doesn't come out that way. "Yeah okay."
"Are you friend with Randy?" I ask and he laughs, "Ha! No. We're acquaintances. Well we were anyways."
"How come?" I ask as I pull Paige's dress down. It's super short and I shouldn't have never worn it.
"He took my girl. That's not cool." He says. My mouth drops open. "Sasha was your girl?" Am I that antisocial that I never knew they were a thing?
"Well... not exactly. We were friends with benefits. I actually fell for her. I was this close to getting her. Deep down I knew she wasn't interested in something serious though. I saw the way she looked at Randy. I told myself it was just my imagination. I was fooling myself, twinkie."
I don't know what to say, Dean and I have never really talked. He insults me, calls me embarrassing dumb nicknames and I roll my eyes at him and tell him to leave me alone but what he just told me is pretty deep. Well it was pretty deep because like mentioned before we never actually talk.
"What's so great about, Shasha?" I know what's so great about her. I don't even know why I'm asking. To suffer more?
"She's perfect," he says with a sigh as he looks in the distance. "Her pretty little eyes, her flowing bright hair. Her smile is brighter than the sun itself. She's one of a kind twinkie. You will never meet a girl like her."
I feel my tears building up again. He's right. She is one of a kind and that's why I will never get a chance with a guy like Randy. "Why do you like Randy? What's so great about him?"
"I don't like him." I say clearing my throat. "Ha really? Well that's not what your face said when you saw Sasha and him together. I bet you felt exactly what I felt. You felt your heart fall to your stomach didn't you? And you know it absolutely sucks. I don't know why they call it heartbreak, I mean you feel like every part of you is broken."
I nod my head sadly, "Yeah." He shakes his head, "Damn. That unlit cigarette must've gone to my head, I'm here telling you my love life." I nod my head, "Probably."
"The moral of my story is to not do friends with benefits. It only breaks your heart." He says. "I wasn't planning on it anyways." He gives me a thumbs up and gets up.
"Do you honestly want to go back to that place?" I ask and he makes a face, "No. How about I take you to the hotel and we forget everything I told you?"
"Yeah, I like the sound of that." I say walking behind him, "Okay great. Let's get my car Oompa Loompa."
"You're such a jerk." I say speeding up, "It's true, I'm like a foot taller than you." He chuckles, "Actually no. You're 6'4 so you're a little over a foot taller than me."
"How do you know my height? That's creepy." He says as we approach his car, he pulls out his keys and unlocks a black car. It's very nice and looks almost new. "It's not hard to guess. I'm good at making observations."
And by that I mean that he is the about the same height as Randy and that's how I know his height. I don't mention this of course. He gets in the car and I get in on the passengers seat.
"You look awful." He says with a grin as he turns on the car, "Gee thank you so much." I groan annoyed and lay my head on the window.
"You're kind of cute for a geek." He says, I feel my body heat and I continue looking out the window. No one has ever called me cute before.
And even though he's a jerk and we are complete opposites, we have one thing in common. We're both madly in love with two impossibles.
