"So how're things with Dean?" Paige asks as we walk out of the elevator. We grab our bags and walk towards the entrance.
"Same." I reply opening the door. Paige walks out first and then I follow her behind. "So still friends?" She asks a bit disappointed.
"Paige, I told you we were just going to be friends." I say. "I don't want just friends. I want more dammit."
I don't say anything just bite the inside of my cheek. She turns to look at me, "Or what? You don't like him anymore?"
"I like him more than anything in the world, Paige. He's like my world. Everything revolves around him. I just have to get used to the idea that he won't ever be anything else but my friend."
"He was your boyfriend once." She says with a small smile. Fake boyfriend. "But... things have changed now."
"It'll all fall in place." She gives my shoulder a little squeeze and I sigh. "I hope so." Her phone rings and she starts texting.
"It's Sami. He needs help packing. Ugh. Like always. Do you mind watching over my suitcase while I go help him?"
"No go ahead." I say she walks back inside and I grab her suitcase pulling it closer to mine. It feels weird being out here by myself.
So I take out my phone and pretend to be on it so I don't look awkward standing alone. "Hey." Randy says poking my side.
"Oh hi." I say putting my phone in my pocket. "How are you? I haven't talked to you in a while."
"I'm fine." I answer and for the first time I'm not completely lying. I'm better now that Dean is back in my life.
"Sorry about your match." He says. "It's okay. I'm getting a rematch. Hopefully I will win this one."
"That match was stolen from you." I nod my head, "I know. I don't want to play it like a victim though. I want to win the match because of my hard work. Not because the match was stolen from me."
"You can do it." He says with a smile. "Thank you." I reply smiling back. Randy raises his eyebrows and leans down to whisper in my ear.
"He's looking at you." My heart skips a beat as he says this and I turn around almost too quickly.
Dean is holding two suitcases. His black one and a bright pink one. Sasha is on her phone texting someone and Dean stops to wave.
I wave back and he smiles. Sasha then says something and walks ahead. Dean looks a bit aggravated but follows her behind.
"I see he's talking to you again." Randy says. "Yeah. We're friends." I reply with a grin. "Friends? That never works."
My grin slowly disappears. "Sorry to burst your bubble but it's impossible. You can't be friends with someone who has seen your soul. With someone who knows your secrets, your fears, your dreams. You can't be friends with someone who you're in love with."
I hold my breath and look at Dean. He's putting the suitcases on his car. He looks so flawless without even trying.
"I have to get used to it." I finally say. Randy raises his eyebrows and sigh. "Good luck with that. I'm here for you. For whatever you need. Okay?"
"Okay. Thank you." He gives me a quick hug. "Well I need to get going see you around shortie." He smiles and walks away.
I take a seat on the sidewalk and sigh staring up at the sky. Randy is right. He did burst my bubble in a second.
But he's right. What was I thinking? That Dean and I could be friends? That is impossible. I'm not trying to be a pessimist but we can't pretend nothing happened.
I told him so many things that night I got drunk. I've told him about my past relationship and he's told me so many things about his life. They all seem to revolve around Sasha and I'm not her.
My chest starts to feel heavy and I feel like crying. How can we be friends if I'm in love? How can we be friends when he's with her?
As I blink quickly to stop my tears I see Dean. He's walking towards me. I'm internally freaking out and I turn around pretending not to see him.
He could just be walking to the hotel and not to me. From the corner of my eye I can see him getting closer and closer.
"Hi." He says taking a seat next to me. "Hey." I say surprised. I glance at his car to see if Sasha is somewhere there.
"What's up?" He asks. "Nothing much. I'm waiting for Paige. She's helping Sami pack up." I say with a chuckle.
He smiles but there's something off about it. "Are you okay?" I ask. He doesn't look happy. In fact he looks miserable and it makes me blue.
"Yeah I'm fine." He answers looking ahead. "You don't have to lie to me." I whisper. I know Dean too well.
"It's just... too much going on all of the sudden." He replies. "Sasha's mad isn't she? For talking to me?" A knot starts forming on my throat. He's sad because of me. Because Sasha is angry at him for talking to me.
"You don't have to talk to me no more." I say trying my best to keep it together. He finally turns around to face me. "I just want you to be happy." I choke out.
"You make me happy." He says. My chest starts feeling warm. "But she's not happy that you're talking to me. I can see where she's coming from. If I was in her situation I wouldn't want you to talk to me either."
"It's more than that payjay. It's not just you. It's everything." He looks a bit hurt and I want to ask why but I don't. Sometimes it's painful to talk about certain things.
Dean is not the type of guy that speaks his heart out. If he wants to say something he will say it himself.
"So how are things with Randy?" He asks. "Well good I suppose. We're really good friends."
"Just friends?" He asks. I nod my head. "Yes. Like I've said before... we're friends." He nods his head, "Because he's in love with Sasha right?"
I don't say anything and start playing with my fingers nervously. "Aren't you going to ask me?"
"Ask you what?" I say biting the inside of my lip. "How are things with Sasha." He says calmly. "Well..." my voice trails off. "Go ahead. Ask me."
"How are things with Sasha?" I whisper. He sort of laughs and looks right in my eyes. It's that laugh you make when you're trying to hide the fact that you're hurt.
"All she wants me to do is undo her bra."
