Bound to be Best Friends

Chapter Seven

I woke up to the dinging of my phone signalling I had a message. Deep down I had hope that it was Noah and he was saying he was going to come by this morning so that we could walk to school together but it is my fault that its not anyway. Emma's name flashed upon my screen. The message read: 

"Hey Ava, Max has been planning a few days away at his aunt's house near the beach! She is going to be away for the time we are up there which means we get it to ourselves! There is a only a couple of people going and you have to come too, for me. I'll give you more details at school."

I don't want to think about that. A few days away at the beach is the ideal holiday and I could certainly use one of those but Noah is Max's best friend and we all know what that means. I don't even know what to say to him anymore. What if he asks details about the person i said i was seeing, that is what best friends do after all. I decided there was no point dwelling over this holiday so I quickly got myself out of bed and got my breakfast, all I could hope is that I'd feel better after a big bowel of chocolate cereal.

I grabbed my bag and through everything I was going to need in it, ready to set off for school for the day. I made my way to the locker when I noticed that Riley of all people was leant up against it. I slowly approached my locker as her stood there with a smirk across his face.

"Hey Ava" Riley said in a cheerful tone.

"Hey" I replied unsure of why he is here.

"I was wondering if you would like to come to the movies with me sometime this week? you can pick the movie" Riley question with hope prominent in his voice.

Just as I was about to decline his offer as nice is it was but I just felt that I should get over my feelings for Noah before starting something with someone else, I noticed that Noah had just entered the school doors with Casey hanging off his arm. Noah directed his gaze at me and all I could think was that I had to try something, anything to get over him. I quickly turned around facing Riley again, I could feel Noah staring at me.

"You know what, I'd love to. I'll give you my number and we can organise when you want to go" I said back trying to be excited. I quickly gave Riley my number before heading off to class, just as I was about at the classroom I heard someone yelling out my name.

"Ava!" Noah yelled out stopping me in my tracks.

"Yeah?" I questioned back unsure of why he was chasing me down the hallway let alone talking to me at all after how everything went at the diner.

"Is that who your seeing now? Riley of all people?" he questioned me.

"What's wrong with Riley? You know what, why does it matter to you anyway? I can see whoever I want whenever I want and you can't stop me." I let out in a massive angry breath. I turned away and stomped into the classroom before he had another chance to say anything.

I don't understand how he has the right to suggest that someone I was going to go out with wasn't the right person. In fact it made me only want to do it more just to get back at him for thinking he can control me. I saw Emma sat in the classroom, my usual seat right next to her. I made my way over and put my books on the table.

"Hey Ava, I've been waiting to see you! The holiday has been planned in three weeks from now in the second week of holidays" Emma let out in an outburst of excitement 

"That sounds great Em, who's going?" I questioned.

"Noah is going if thats who your asking about, I'm really sorry but he is Max's best friend and his Aunty said that there can be only 4 of us going. That makes it you, me, Max and Noah going. It'll be fun I promise, I won't leave you alone with him." Emma said in a sympathetic tone.

"Ok, thanks Em! I'm sure we are going to have heaps of fun, I can just avoid Noah and spend time with you" I said back trying to be positive about the situation despite being anxious about being around Noah for 4 straight days.

The day finally came to an end and I made my way home, deciding I should do some study for my test tomorrow. After studying for a couple of hours I leant over and turned my lamp off ready for bed. The last couple of days have been hectic, I could only hope that tomorrow would finally be better.
