Chapter 1 - New Life

Jade's Pov

I can't believe that this is the second time my sister and I are transferring school's this year. Since my mom and dad both got a job promotion, they have decided to move so that we can have a better life. Truth to be told, I really don't mind living at our old place. It might be a small town with not much but its my childhood home where I grew up, most of my memories were made there although not all of them were good ones. How can my parents even transfer me and my sister during our junior year? I mean the rest of the kids here already know each other for at least 3 years, and here I am being the socially awkward new girl.

Well you see I'm the type of girl that constantly feels left out and out of place while my sister can be considered as one of the popular kids. Mabel is really pretty, friendly and kind, she's basically who everyone wants to be and every boys dream girlfriend. I bet all of the boys in our old school have asked her out on a date at least once. She can easily take the title of Queen Bee back in our own school but she refused as she think it was a stupid title. Nevertheless, almost everyone worships her.

"Hey! Sis it's time to go!" Mabel yelled from downstairs. I could hear that she was picking up her keys and already waiting at the front door. It's only been a week here and she has already gotten used to it, while I'm actually still sulking.

"Coming! Just a sec!" Here goes nothing...... I sighed.

"Took you long enough. Come on, dad told us to wait for him at the driveway. I think he mentioned something about a surprise." She said excitedly. She was already at the door,  all ready waiting for me while I grabbed a cup of coffee and an apple from the counter.

Once we went out of the house, I couldn't believe what was in front of me. A brand new Silver Mazda 3, in front of our porch.

"Like your gift girls?" Dad said as he got out of the car.

"Like it? I Love it ! Thanks Dad! You're the best!" I hugged him.

"I knew that you will like it. You looked so down when we first moved here. Now you girls better get going or you'll be late." He said as he tossed the keys to my sister.

Maybe it won't be so bad living here after all........

" Wait so you knew about the car?" I asked her once we were inside the car.

"Of course, dad brought me along to choose the car while you were too busy sulking around at home reading wattpad." She rolled her eyes at me.

" Hey, you can't blame me for being sad. I don't adjust as fast as you do okay......." I mumbled while I played with the radio stations.

"We're here. Behold East Side High."

Wow, this school is so much bigger than my old school. There is a huge compound for students to relax on, not to mention some of the picnic tables that were set there. How am I ever going to blend in to this school? You could clearly see that everybody is in their own leagues, the jocks, the cheerleaders, the brainiacs and well...... the stereotypical leagues.

"Hey, welcome to East Side High! You are Jade right?" A girl with brown hair called after me as I made my way through the hallways."Nice to meet you, I am the student body president. My name is Bree and this is my Assistant, Alyson."

"Oh, Urm...... Nice to meet you too, my name is Jade." I said shyly. Combing my hand through my hair a few times to relax my nerves. You can do it Jade, this is your chance to make new friends.

"Sorry about my sister. She's not really good at making new friends. Hi my name is Mabel!"

"Hi! Nice to meet the both of you. Here's both of your schedule, I can't believe that we are going to be making new friends!" She said happily while handing us our schedules. Great, looks like we will both be in different classes and I'm going to have to face this alone.

Ring......

" Oh! There goes the warning bell! We better get to homeroom!" Bree says as she pulls my hand leading me through the hallways.

"Just in time!" Bree said once we got to our class. Only a few people were inside considering that we are still early. "Now the both of you can find a place to sit...... How about here? It's close to us and you can get a great view." She threw me a wink before the rest of the students came in.

I quickly slide my bag to one of the chairs and sat down before the teacher got to class. My sister sat on my right while on my left side was a guy who looks quite good, but boys are not my priorities now.

"Hey! You're that new girl Jade right?" The guy beside me asked.

"Oh yeah that's me....... Nice to meet you" I said nervously. How on earth did he know my name? Did the whole school knew that there will be two new girls transferring here today?

"My name is Drew, Drew Adams." He extended his right hand, expecting me to shake it while he continued introducing himself," I'm the quarter-" But he was cut off when the teacher walked in.

"Alright everybody! Settle down! I'm aware that this semester has just started and that all of you are still excited after your break. Ah...... I see that we have two new faces in my class. Please come forward and introduce yourself." The teacher said while smiling as she gestured to both me and Mabel.

You have got to be kidding me........ Introducing myself in front of this freaking class?

As usual, my sister went out to introduce herself first. I didn't really hear what she said because I was too busy trying to find a hole to bury myself in. As I said, I'm a shy girl who is not used to being around so many people. How am I going to introduce myself in front of the crowd without fainting?

"......Thank you! I hope that all of us will get along well." Everyone clapped, and some of them even cheered after my sister finished introducing herself.

"It's your turn now" Drew leaned and whispered to me.

I took a deep breath as I made my way to the front of the class......." Hey guys! My name is Jade. As you know my sister and I just transferred here. Err.... To be honest, I'm the kind of girl who is really shy, so I hope you guys wouldn't mind. So...... I think that's about it. You can always come up to me if you want to know more about me. Thank you, and I hope that we can all be great friends."

At first, the class was very quiet. I thought that I did something wrong or did something to embarrass myself just now ; but suddenly, everybody clapped and cheered for me. I felt like I was about to pass out, so I quickly went back to my seat. That's when I realized that somebody was looking at me from the corner of the class. Before I got to have a good look.....

Ring......

"Thank you Jade and Mabel. I think we will get along just fine...... Now class dismissed!"
