Chapter 4 : First day gone

Later...

Rydel POV

"H-he left!?" I asked, shocked.

"I told him if he walked out that door, I wasn't letting him come back. And he left, so-"

"Dad, that's not fair!" I shouted.

"Rydel, keep your voice down," mom said, sounding annoyed.

"This isn't fair. He really thinks he's half related. And this is your guys' fault! You're the ones who pranked him!"

"Rydel, your brother is 21 years old. He can make his own decisions and be responsible for himself," dad said.

I sighed. This isn't fair, and I need to find Riker.

Riker POV

The only good thing about the park was that there were public bathrooms and vending machines. Everything else was awful. No internet, barely any lights at night, and I didn't have good reception. That didn't really matter anymore though because I got a text from dad, saying he was getting my phone shut down. So my phone didn't get service anymore now...

It was so frustrating because it felt like he was trying to sabotage me from finding my real family. Like the least he can do is help me meet them. I want to get to know them. It's not that I want to abandon my old family. I just want to meet my new one. But I am pretty mad about them not telling me! I mean, I could've grown up knowing my other family. And now, I went 21 years without knowing them. What if I have other siblings!? 

I was beginning to get really hungry. But I only had about $500. I don't want to be stupid about this. I need to only use it when I need it.

I waited a little while, but when my stomach started to hurt, I gave in, went to the vending machine, and got a bar of chocolate. It wasn't much, but it was better than being starving.

I sat in my car, and ate my chocolate. I was still kind of hungry when I was finished, but I just decided to deal with it.

I moved all my stuff to the front seat. And then I crawled into the back so I could go to sleep. I only brought a light blanket, but that would have to be good enough. It's still kind of cold in April, but... If this is part of what I have to do to find my real family, then I'm going to do it.

Later...

Rydel POV

I couldn't sleep. I literally couldn't.

I went to Riker and Rocky's room, and found Rocky awake.

"Hey. What are you doing in here?" Rocky asked.

"I can't sleep."

"Me either. Are you worried about Riker?"

"Yes..."

"Yeah, me too..."

I walked over, and climbed into Riker's bed. I was worried something bad was happening to him somewhere. I know he's 21 and everything, but sometimes he just gets scared. He doesn't usually like being alone. And I'm worried he's sitting somewhere in the darkness and the cold, feeling scared to death.

"Well maybe he'll come back tomorrow," Rocky said, quietly.

"Dad said he's not allowed back."

"I know but... It's just a stupid mistake. Riker will realize he was just being stupid, he'll come back and apologize, and dad will let him come back."

"Yeah, well I hope you're right..."

Later...

Riker POV

I'm literally freezing to death, I'm starving again, and I have to pee.

I didn't want to turn on my car because then I would use up my gas quicker. And I only have so much money... Once I use it, it'll be gone.

And I was sort of reluctant to go to the bathroom and the vending machines because I was sort of scared. It was really dark out, and I could just imagine someone hiding there, waiting to kidnap me or something.

I decided to try to wait until morning, but that didn't end up happening. After a little while, I really needed to use the bathroom, and I was starting to feel sick from being so hungry.

I got out some money, and decided to just suck it up, and go try to be brave. I turned my phone flashlight on, and got out of my car. It was freezing out. I locked my car, and started running for the bathrooms. I figured I'd be safer over there... Maybe...

I did my business as fast as I could, washed my hands, and then went to the vending machines. I always manage to freak myself out so badly though. And I swear I felt someone watching me.

I quickly bought a bag of chips, and sprinted back to my car. I unlocked it, jumped inside, and locked it again.

My heart was racing and my fingers were shaking really badly as I tried to open the bag of chips.

And I swear I saw something outside.

I ducked down, and threw the blanket over myself. I moved to the floor of my car, opened my chips, and started eating as quietly as I could. I know I'm locked in here, but I'm still terrified. Somebody could break my windows and kill me or something.

Maybe I'm just being stupid though. I don't know, but I'd rather not be completely visible in case there really is a murderer out there or whatever.

I was still really really cold, and it was hard to fall asleep because of it. But I just stayed where I was, and eventually fell asleep.

A/N : Literally procrastinating so hard right now... I've spent like 4 hours on this dumb economics paper, and I'm only like halfway done. It's due tomorrow, and it's like 10:00 at night where I live... So wish me luck. There's no way I'm staying up all night, so either I'm going to finish it, or... I don't know...
