Chapter 7
Morning...
Rydel POV
It was getting later and later, and Riker was still asleep. Around 9:30, I went downstairs to the hotel's cafe area, and made us both some hot chocolate. And then I went back upstairs to wake up my brother.
I set the hot chocolates down on the nightstand, and then I shook Riker's shoulder.
"Riker, wake up."
"Hmmm?"
"Wake up."
He opened his eyes, and seemed a little confused at first. But I could tell he was putting everything together again.
"I got you some hot chocolate. How are you feeling?"
"My whole body feels sore," he said, wincing a little as he sat up.
"Yeah... You almost seem... worse."
"I think I caught a cold or something. I can barely breathe through my nose, and my throat hurts a little."
"Just drink your hot chocolate, and we'll see how you seem in a little bit, ok? If you're sick, I'll go buy you some medicine. There's a drug store across the street."
"Ok... Um... Do you think you could help me stand? I need to use the bathroom."
"Yeah."
I helped Riker stand, and then helped him walk to the bathroom. His legs were shaking as we walked. I can tell he still doesn't feel like his normal self yet. He's so weak.
When Riker came out, I had to help him get back in bed.
"Riker, do you think you need to go to the doctor?"
"No! No way! I'm not going there!"
"Right. You're scared of the doctor."
"No, I am not! I just... don't really like it there."
"Riker, you've always been scared of the doctor."
"Well whatever! I'm not going!"
"You're going if you don't get better."
"You cannot make me go!"
"Riker, I'm like the only thing keeping you alive right now. If I say you're going to the doctor, you're going."
He sighed.
"Fine..."
I handed him his cup of hot chocolate, and he drank some.
Later...
Rydel POV
Riker's gotten worse throughout the day. I booked us another night here so I could continue to take care of him. He says he has a sore throat, and his voice has become really hoarse. He has a cough, and he can't breathe very well.
On top of all that, he says his whole body feels sore, and every time he needs to go to the bathroom, I have to help him up. He's too weak.
"Riker, maybe we need to see the doctor tonight."
"No!" He squeaked.
"Riker, do you hear yourself? This isn't good!"
"I just need to rest a little more," he said with a scratchy voice.
"Shush! I don't want you hurting your voice even more!"
"Sorry."
"Riker, stop!"
